Going for a second cup. Added some new leaves and kept the old ones. Bit of a darker brew, slightly more “black tea” flavor with a touch more astringency.

drank Butterbeer by 52teas

Having never tried real butterbeer, I can only imagine what it must taste like. Since the blend here is butterbeer tea, I think 52teas has done a great job of melding the two drinks into one. On my personal enjoyment scale, I would rate 52teas’ Butterbeer a 74/100. Cheers!

While I like the initial flavor and most of the body, the finish disappoints. It tastes thin and weak. Yes, I did mention it was smooth, but as I work my way through the cup, the aftertaste seems like I drank this an hour ago, not just a few seconds. I wonder, if this has to do with the freshness of the ingredients. While my teabag did say to enjoy by August of 2017, I have had other blends that used both lemongrass and ginger root together, and the ginger, at least, was a powerful flavor throughout the tea. That said, I did enjoy this cup, and I would rate it a 72/100 on my personal enjoyment scale.

Nothing quite so extreme, thankfully!

Delicious, sweet (but not cloying), and rather balanced in flavors! Highly recommend this one.

Starting the morning with some good green tea.

Grassy and nutty notes combine for a cup with some slight natural sweetness.

A coworker brought me a bag of this, this morning. Naturally sweet. Not a bad taste!

Starting off the morning with some delicious pu’erh. Cleansing the palate after breakfast that felt heavy.

Just picked up another package of this, last week. Yum. Needing it to clear some grease flavor, leftover from lunch, from my mouth.
Plus, it is just delicious.

Bio

“I love trading tea and trying new teas. My favourites are oolong (mainly Chinese) and pu’erh.
Will gladly talk all day about tea.”

The above was my bio when I joined five years ago, and I felt it needed to be updated. I still love pu’erh, though I have begun to take preference toward cooked, shou. Oolongs are certainly still a go-to tea for me, but I have expanded my horizons to begin including greens and blacks based upon the weather and how I am feeling.

Still more than glad to talk about tea – anytime, anywhere, anyplace.
Additionally, if fountain pens, books, music, or computers are on the discussion list…

My ratings, this “personal enjoyment scale” about which I talk, are just that – based on how much I enjoyed the tea. I might have enjoyed it immensely, yet do not keep it stocked for various reasons. On the flip side, I have a few teas that are “good” but not “great,” which I keep stocked for various reasons.
