518 Tasting Notes
This was a nice change for my first morning tea.
I couldn’t find my measuring spoon this morning – I looked all over the kitchen. I wonder if it fell on a the floor and is now a cat toy? I wouldn’t put it past those kids. Anyway, no measuring spoon, so I used an iced tea spoon, two scoops. A little bit of hot water (maybe 1/4c) and it blended right in. Then ice and 2% milk in my drink shaker and everything blended up perfectly. The little bit in hot water is definitely the secret to making this work for me.
I enjoyed it so much that it was gone within 10 minutes of my house.
I was expecting more of a buzz from it, but that’s okay.
The amaretto was definitely there, but never overpowering. It tasted quite nice. I could imagine I was drinking a nifty adult beverage instead of having my daily milk and driving into the office. I’m really glad I went with the distinctive flavor level. That’s the right way to go for me.
And people said in reviews that this bag didn’t seal, but small size does have a ziptop to it. Maybe people were referring to the samples which don’t?
I wanted something without caffeine mid afternoon. Yes, I was dragging, but I also figured that too much caffeine might not be i my best interest.
I’m really starting to enjoy the flavors on this one. It got me through my conference call and the end of the work day.
I had this one in my travel mug this morning. I enjoyed the smell dry, but I could really tell when I pulled the infuser basket out after 90 seconds that this was going to be a winner by the scent alone. Running late this morning (thanks, Mr. Penny, for the cat puke all over the carpet and my gym bag) so I just screwed the sip top on and walked out the door. Stopped at my first light, I opened the travel mug and the scent wafted out at me.
Yes, I love lemon. I love lemon scents. This was just the right amount of lemon.
That first sip, I was surprised at how delicious it was. It tastes like lemon zest in my tea. Just a little sweet even. I wanted more and more. I drank almost the whole thing on my drive, even though I normally drink about half of my tea. And then I sat in my car in the parking structure and finished it so I could enjoy it before the rest of the craziness started.
I saved the leaves this morning because they still looked great (and I was running behind and didn’t have time to deal with them) so I think I’ll try another steeping when I get home.
And I really look forward to trying this one iced.
And the 160°F was a little harder for me to get to because that’s not a setting on my kettle. I turned it on and gave the cats treats, and next thing I knew, I was at 175°. But I added some tap water and it wound up exactly perfect. That was about the only good thing about this morning.
Preparation
I was right across the room from him. I just couldn’t get there in time to stop him. All over the bag, including into the spot where the zipper wasn’t quite closed. And a pile on the carpet, too, because he didn’t want to miss that.
My husband said that was his way of showing me he loves me and that he didn’t want me to go to work today.
Last night – didn’t get a chance to add the tea until this morning, and then I forgot to attach the picture. That’s how my day has been.
But last night…..I had this tea. I definitely taste the cranberry. It’s got that tartness from the cranberry that I love. Of course, I finished what I have of this at the house off. I never did get a chance to try this iced. I guess I’ll have to go to the store and get some more. At least it’s available locally.
Preparation
One of my new teas that arrived today, so I’m giving it a try. It’s a nice level of citrus and floral, gentle on the stomach. It’s also nice and relaxing.
It’s a nice color in the mug, too. (Using my new ForLife clear mug tonight, so I can really see the color. Lots of new toys today.)
Spent time this evening trying to help the volunteer coordinator for a FIRST Robotics Competition event I’m volunteering at in a few weeks. She’s short volunteers in a couple of key positions. I hope someone can step up and help out. These three event weekends are going to start killing us for skilled volunteers.
Preparation
I decided to have this one again, because my Red Leaf Tea order is due to be delivered today. Cold, in 2% milk. Just the matcha and milk with some ice in the drink shaker.
Last time, I felt I didn’t have enough matcha. This time I felt like I had too much. I need to find the happy medium. It was really nice until I got to the end, and then it was a little too much. Maybe if I blended it with ice it would work better?
I had no time for breakfast as I’m working on a critical client issue (They eff’d up by not following the directions, said issue was a medium, neglected to mention client deliverable, never upped it from a medium, and now the sky is falling and it’s my fault for not jumping on this right away.)
Anyway, this felt like I was getting more than just tea, even though I’m not. Now I think we’ve got things figured out and I might have time for lunch.
I love the toastiness of this one. Yummy.
Nice and jasminey. I enjoyed a couple of infusions, but my tummy is not playing nice. Acid reflux is kicking up again so I stopped drinking this and moved onto something I thought might be a little more soothing….
I wonder if they went through a packaging change. I have only had zip top bags for regular sizes, but have only been ordering since last November.
I don’t know. It may have been people with just samples talking, too. shrug
Reading through other Red Leaf Tea reviews, it sounds like the resealable bag is new.
