518 Tasting Notes
I had this one cold steeped with my lunch today. I should have pulled it out of the fridge sooner. I’m not too happy with the flavor this time. I put some more in the fridge to try again, only I’m only going to let it go for a few hours this time.
Preparation
I quite like this one. Light, delicate flavor, but complex, especially on later infusions.
I’m drinking at work where I really don’t know the water temps. I put cold water from the tap (just a little bit) in my mug and then add hot from the coffee maker. This one I count to about 14 in my head for the cold water – the faucet has very little flow due to a flow restricter in the faucet.
Preparation
I hope this one grows on me more. I wound up getting distracted and oversteeped this. I hope that’s what it is. It’s not bad, but it’s not as good as I hoped it would be. It was just kinda okay. It bloomed beautifully as soon as water touched it, both on my nose and in the infuser. It overflowed the infuser on me, actually.
Preparation
I’m drinking this one hot today. I love the jasmine in it, that I feel becomes more pronounced with each steeping. 1:15 to start, increased by 15-30 seconds each additional steeping. I only did 5 total today because I’ve got too much to do.
Preparation
It has a nice, nutty flavor that I enjoy. Today I have steeped it several times from 1:15 for a first steep to 2:45, upping by about 15 seconds on the first few and 30 on the last one. There’s more rice in this one than in the picture, although I think that has varied from purchase to purchase of this one. Deckan is a local company that sells to my local, family owned grocery store in bulk, and then I buy it there to support two local companies.
