709 Tasting Notes
Finally re-steeped this, three hours later. I was afraid that after over steeping a bit the first time that it wouldn’t produce a comparable second cup, but the smell and colour of the liquor are superb.
First sip is certainly more mild in lemon flavour than before, but still delicious. I love lemon though, in case I didn’t mention it : )
Preparation
My third purchase from David’s Tea yesterday. I’ve never had oolong before so I didn’t know what I was getting in to. I love lemon and citrus in general, so this was a safe bet, but it turned out nicely. I found the flavours mixed nicely and the lemon wasn’t nearly as overpowering as one would expect from the smell.
I found it to be a really smooth tea and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to my next cup!
Preparation
Had a nice cuppa this evening. The beau enjoyed some iced with rum and I used the leftover for a hot cup. I first bought this in the summer, brewed a mug and didn’t enjoe it as much as some of the others so it sat at the back of my cupboard. Now that winter’s settled in, this is a great pick me up, reminding me that summer will come again some day. Really enjoyable, especially as a mint fan!
Preparation
Smells amazing…I’ve wanted this since it came out but couldn’t bring myself to cough up the price. Today I gave in. And I didn’t regret it, at all!! We let this steep for a long time, though the beau poured a cup at about five minutes and it was delicious, but a really mild fruit flavour. At a ten minute steep, the tea really hits you right off. It sort of is milky, though deliciousn and sweet, though not too sweet!!
Preparation
Second infusion produced two more cups, both drank by me as the beau didn’t want them. Since I over-steeped the first batch, the second came out a little watery but I’ve finally establised that the weird taste is SLIGHTLY reminiscnet of coffee. Upping my rating as I am coming to really enjoy it as an occcasional tea. Something to put a little hair on my chest amidst my usual tisanes : )
Preparation
I went and bought tea this morning before having my first cuppa. Of our three new selections, we’re trying Cloud nine first. The smell is delicious, though I love black currants, so that helps. There’s also a bit of a weird smell to it, almost chocolatey which is weird since there’s none in it. Maybe the St. john’s Wort?
Upon steeping, the liquor came out really brown…starting to worry. There is a strong earthy sort of smell, and I’m starting to lose the resemblance to the dry leaf smell. Hard to imagine black currants in it at this point. Really hoping this is a misleading beginning. There is also an annoying amount of little floaties in the tea, despite my fine mesh infuser.
Of course, as I steep this I talk to a friend about new teas I bought. He reminds me that I smelled this at his house and complained of the smell. Repeatedly.
Okay, here goes. I had a sip. It tastes different than it smells, which is weird. And it ends really sweet and fruity, but the smell that I can only describe as chocolate is freaking me out. I like it more than I thought – Probably won’t buy again, but at least I have something different on hand. I can’t really say much else about it yet. Will try again later. Maybe a second infusion?
Preparation
Enjoyed it so much this morning I thought I would have it again. The liquor is more pale than I expect, and the green apple taste is delicious. I don’t actually know what chamomile tastes like, but I assume it to be subtle since I don’t find there to be an over-powering flavour.
As it cooled I started to notice something more and more that I referred to as laundry soap – Presumably that was the chamomile. Didn’t like that so much. Downgraded rating : (
