709 Tasting Notes
There’s a point in the steep where this goes from nice and mild to tart and over-bearing. Somewhere in the 3 minute range, I find. Still not an exceptional tea, but certainly passable. Won’t buy again, what with all the delicious loose tea to be had, but I would snag one off a freebie tray for sure : )
Preparation
I bought this at the Market. I have no description for it, no ingredient list, and no link to the website. The shop is based in Mahone Bay, NS and they do have a price list online which contains this tea, but that’s what I got.
All that said, it’s delicious! Clearly a black tea, with a lovely blueberry aroma. The flavour of blueberry does not come out as strongly as it smells, but it’s nice – mild, but still there. Perfectly lovely, though kind of forgettable. I got two other teas from this company which also are sort of forgettable. Shame, considering that it’s a local tea company and it would be nice to support some Nova Scotians.
Felt like a real tea after my chamomile apple this morning (really coming to hate that tea – chamomile is not for me!) so I turned to the Lady Grey. I found that I needed a bit of sugar and cream in it this morning, but I find it masks the bergamot too much. A little unsatisfying, but still a nice cup of tea. I think I need to give in, greys are not really for me!
Preparation
I oversteeped this morning (was playing Little Big Planet 2 before work, so sue me! :D ) but it was still delicious. I found the tart lemon rind sort of bitterness came out too strong as a result of my over-steeping but I think a bit of honey would have fixed that nicely…if I’d bothered.
I really like lemon, so I find this a really nice tea, but if you want the balanced pie sort of flavour, definitely make sure to not steep it more than 4 or 5 minutes. My favourite lemon David’s Tea continues to be Three Lemon, with Citron Oolong coming in just behind, but this was a nice aberration from my norm.
Preparation
Second steep – mint is strong again. Why is the second steep so strong on mint???
Anyway, this might only do cups today, because this isn’t quite as strong as I would like. The mint is taking over, the base is muted, but a nice complement.
Preparation
Figured I’d go to this delicious tea for work today – I learned yesterday that I can get three solid steeps, so it’s perfect for no fuss no muss tea that’s still delicious! I’ve interested a couple people in this by the smell alone, though most baulk at the price. Why is coffee allowed to be expensive but not tea? Mmm, I love the mint in this..
