From Lupicia

This aromatic black tea is inspired by fragrant roasted chestnuts, a winter tradition in Paris. A mellow sweetness follows after the slight bitterness of chestnut skins. The roasted scent and seasonal chestnut flavor also work well for a delicious milk tea, perfect for the holidays.

Joyeux Noël means “Merry Christmas” in French.

Sipdown! (3 | 455)

Aww, a somewhat sad sipdown.

This is a delightful caramelized roasted chestnut black tea. There’s a creamy nuttiness paired with toasty notes and deep dark caramelized sugar. Such lovely depth of flavor, like in a high-quality praliné chocolate. The somewhat strong base makes a good foundation for the rich flavors, without being too bitter as long as the steep is kept fairly short.

As good as it is plain, this tea is just tremendous with milk, or as a milk tea. Such wonderful chestnut flavor! I’ll definitely be picking up some more of this one if it appears on the US website this holiday season. Not holding my breath, though…

I know what you mean – I’ve been waiting for Chaud Les Macarons for years now and pretty much assumed they’ll never have it again. I’ll keep an eye out for Joyeux Noel when they come out with the holiday teas – shouldn’t be too long now!

Cameron B.

I’ve been checking every day… XD

Their holiday teas are out now, and they also have Christmas Wreath and Joyeux Noël! ❤

Saw this morning – already got my order in!

Cameron B.

Same, ha ha. Had to jump on it while everything is still in stock!

…aaaaaand the next morning I got an email from Lupicia with a 20% off discount code (VIP21). Of course. So, I placed another order, and made sure to include Joyeux Noel. Damn you, Lupicia!!!

Cameron B.

I don’t get emails from them, and I don’t see anywhere to sign up on the website?

Sakura Sushi

That’s strange. I got emails from them when I started ordering from them. Maybe you need to create an account? There’s a login/signup option at the top of the homepage for the Hawaii online store.

Cameron B.

Hmm strange, I have an account already. I guess I’ll send them an email about it, thanks. :)

This is very bitter. I steeped it at 200 F and don’t taste much else but a black base and bitter.

Nonetheless, grateful to have been able to try! Thanks Cameron!

Yesterday was kind of rough, I had a job interview that didn’t go so well and then I decided I need a new outfit for this holiday party I am going to tonight. Went to the mall and wasn’t inspired by anything aside from the Lupicia store. ;)

This is a Lupicia tea I’ve never had before. It’s a black tea blend that’s slightly nutty. I’m definitely getting the chestnut flavor from it, but it seems kind of bitter unfortunately. It was nice with a tiny bit of coconut sugar and soymilk. It’s not my favorite from Lupicia however… if they could find a way to remove the bitterness I’d like this much better. I might try steeping this at a slightly lower temp next time.

Just wear a dress made of Lupicia tins! Voila! :P

I’m sorry about the interview, but better luck with your next one. Oh yes, there shall be another.

I was just reading the description of this tea and Lupicia’s Chaud Les Marrons and they are the same. Is Lupicia renaming this for holiday sale?

This tastes very similar to their chocolate chestnut tea, but with a little less base. The first part of the sip is really light, then it starts tasting heavier. At the end is has a deep roasted flavor that joins the chestnut flavor that hangs out the entire sip. I added a little cream at the end and it really brought out a nutty flavor.

This tea is nice, but I really prefer their green based chestnut tea.

ohfancythat

What’s the green one called?

Dustin

It looks like it is just called Chestnut. http://www.lupiciausa.com/product_p/12408226.htm

From the reddit travelling tea box

This one looked promising – a black blend of ctc and leafy bits. Big cubes of something, marigold petals and lumps of golden rock sugar. Taste? Meh. I’ve had many great Lupicia teas, but out of all the Lupicia teas I’ve had, this one is on the bottom. It’s bitter, roasty, acidic with a little bit of sweetness. It does taste like roasted chestnuts, if I ate one whole with the peel on. I think it might work if one adds milk, or maybe coffee drinkers, but blaaah. Sorry Lupicia.

The tea itself smells like vomit and brewing it just intensified that. It is one of the most awful things I’ve ever drank. It’s sweet with an acidic tinge similar to bile and hits you with an almost menthol after taste. I had to soak my steeper afterwards because I could not get the smell/taste out of it. I liken this to the flavor in the back of my throat the day after Christmas when I’ve had a few too many brandy eggnogs.
