Day 9 of our Advent Tea Swap. From amandastory516.

Just a quick note about this one to say that it is delicious. It really does taste like dark chocolate and mint. It reminds me of the Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Mint squares. I just placed a huge order with Harney & Sons, but I’ll be adding this to my next order for sure.

I actually got this tea by accident. I ordered Chocolate Chai Supreme and was sent this 4 oz tin of Chocolate Mint instead. I emailed Harney & Son’s and by the next morning the proper order was on the way and they told me to go ahead and enjoy this tea anyway. Great customer service! I gave it a try the next day and was a little bit underwhelmed initially. Not bad but just not amazing. I decided to have it again the next day and for some reason it really grew on me the second time. The mint is really refreshing and the chocolate is surprisingly strong. It reminds me of a guilt free hot chocolate and is very enjoyable. It’s frequently in my travel mug and it’s somehow become one of my favorites over the course of a week! A delicious happy accident.

Would’ve loved for this to have a more prominent chocolate note, but unfortunately I got mostly mint. Adding cream and sugar helped, but the mint was a bit overpowering. I tend to dislike straight mint teas, but hoped this would be more of an Andes/dessert like-mint (which I do like). Unfortunately it was more of the former, so it won’t be a repeat purchase for me.

I’ve been largely unimpressed with mint chocolate teas in the past, so I wasn’t very excited to try this one. I like Harney’s Florence flavor, but all their other chocolate teas are kind of eh. I’m happy to say that this one is pretty nice! The mint takes the front seat and there’s just a bit of a chocolate base in the background. Nothing tastes fake or strange. This is actually very well blended, and I would totally drink this one frequently if it were decaf!
Thanks to AliceG for this sample! This might finally be the last of the teas she sent – it’s been fun trying everything!

This deliciously scented tea brings all the flavors you want in a flavored black tea blend.
From when I opened the tin to when I brewed my first cup and on to my first sip, the mint and chocolate came through. The mint is a very natural and gentle taste, that does not compete with the black tea but comes through with perfect harmony. While the chocolate is stronger in smell than taste, it is most certainly present and is not too sweet or overpowering, just a subtle chocolate flavor.

Most of the chocolate teas I have tried have actual chocolate chips in them, while in this tea chocolate extract is used. While chocolate chips add a creaminess to the tea, the use of chocolate extract allows for a more pure chocolate taste and a more sophisticated overall taste in the tea.

I would recommend this tea to anyone who likes mint or chocolate but also those who are a fan of peppermint teas and are looking to branch out. While the flavor of the black tea is most certainly present, the mint comes through enough for a stronger mint tea taste.

Too heavy on the mint, and too light on the chocolate for me. The mint seems to overpower the black tea. It does multiple brewings well.

It tastes mostly minty to me. There isn’t much body/ base from the black tea and when I added milk it became very thin. I dont’t taste much chocolate. Not a favorite

Chocolate and mint is probably my favorite flavor combo ever. I normally have a chocolate mint black tea hanging around, but I finished my last one up. I have peppermint and spearmint, but apparently no chocolate tea, not even mixed in with other flavors. So I picked this up. I like this decently well, but it’s a but subtle compared to what I usually go for with these two flavors. I want the chocolate mint to be just all up in your face, but I do recognize that this tea is good, if not quite to my own preferences

My sister bought this.

Much too sweet for everyday drinking, but probably good as a dessert digestif… except that it’s a black tea and I’m sensitive to caffeine so I won’t drink it after dinner. It has a very artificially sweet smell like a cheap chocolate candy. The odour of this tea clings to my Thermos and it took me 5 days of washing and soaking to get the smell out.

I’ll try it with milk at some point, but I’m guessing this one won’t be coming out very often.

Sipdown 18 of 2016. Purchased 1/2016 – Finished 2/2016.

I really really really wanted to like this tea but I just couldn’t. The mint flavor in this tea was fantastic, but there was nothing to support it. There was not a strong tea flavor, and there was not really even a hint of chocolate in my opinion. At first I thought well maybe I just didn’t use enough leaf, but for my second pot of this I almost doubled the amount of tea and still it provided a really weak base. I am glad I got to try this one, but I am still on the hunt for a minty cocoa treat.

Could it need to be shaken or turned over a while? My son-in-law loves this one in sachets from Target. Maybe the loose leaf is weak. Our last two batches of green hot cinnamon have been weak. It was disappointing.

TeaTiff

I perched this as a loose leaf sample. Both pots of the sample were pretty weak. I am not sure if it was just a bad sample, or if it is just he way the tea is.
