From 52teas

Butter Rum was always my favorite flavor of Lifesavers. I’m not really a fan of rum itself, but butter rum candy is the stuff dreams are made out of, and so is this tea.

It’s a blend of our premium black teas, marigold petals and organic rum, butter and (just a hint of) vanilla flavors. The vanilla is just a teeny bit to smooth out the other flavors. And smooth is exactly what this tea is. It’s delicious hot or iced. I hope you agree.

I tried this yesterday for the first time and I’m drinking it again tonight. It has a nice butterscotch flavor that I am really enjoying, but it does not obliterate the underlying malty black tea (not too strong). And how does Frank get a subtle hint of rum flavor in there? Wow! I’m hoping this one will get me through all the work I have to do tonight. It’s making me crave a Werther’s.

Catching up on the 12 Days of Christmas (um…after Valentine’s Day, I guess. Lol.). Anyway, I’m trying the Butter Rum today. The other reviews of this tea mentioned it tasting like a Butterscotch Lifesaver, and that’s pretty on the mark with this.

Backlog from yesterday
This tea is quite enjoyable, I like the addition of the vanilla to add that smoothness. It does taste like rum candy, but not that sweet. As much as I did enjoy this tea, I think I enjoy DavidsTea version of the Buttered Rum better.

So, I am a Tea Pirate, and I sail on the Jolly Teapot. Once again, I have a rum flavoured tea instead of my preferred beverage. This one is rather pleasant. It has a creamy, butterscotch type flavour, along with the rum. Not the coconut of my last rum tea. In fact, this kinda reminds me of the rum raisin ice cream, sans raisins. And warm. If that makes sense. Thanks to my boatswain for sending this for me to try.

Yarr! Happy International Talk Like A Pirate Day, me mateys! I be drinkin’ this here tea because Captain Lariel suggested it as a likely pirate tea on this here auspicious day.

This tea smells very very strongly of exactly what I would think when I see “Butter Rum”. It tastes like it too. It’s been ‘curing’ in the giant box ofunopened teas since I got it and while neither Rum nor Butterscotch are my favourite flavours, I am enjoying this as well as foisting it off on many of my co-workers today.

I have been debating what pirate joke to put on the end here because I have quite a collection now. Pirate pickup lines perhaps? Or the old one about the steering wheel on the breeches? No. I’m going to go philosophical.

How do pirates know that they are pirates?
They think, therefore they ARRRR!!!!!

A lot of tea with a little butter rum. It’s a good blend of blacks. I’m not going to try to guess which types they are… I’m better at guessing greens. The butter rum is lighter then I expected but at the same time I think it’s better like that.

Pass the Stash

Never have I ever had a buttered rum..but this tea reminds me of butterscotch:P The black base is strong for the first second of the sip then slowly fades into the butter-y butterscotch (so much creamy butter:P) flavor. A touch of sweetener brightens the flavor from a semi-flavorful cup to a cup brimming with flavor. Now I have an urge to try this with vanilla ice cream.. is butterscotch and vanilla ice cream even a thing?.. I feel like it would be incredibly delicious..

What a fun tea! I love butterscotch and vanilla ice cream together. In fact, this is my favorite ice cream topper:

Smitten Kitchen is awesome. :)

The only butter rum thing I’ve ever had is the Life Savers candy. And they are very similar to butterscotch! :)

Veronica Wow, that looks absolutely incredible. Glad to know that this combination exists! I’m going to have to make a run to the grocery store so I can make this tonight or tomorrow:D

Cameron B. Life Savers makes a butter rum flavor? I had no idea! Cool!

Veronica

The only time I can find butter rum Life Savers is around Christmas time. I loved the m as a kid!

albertocanfly If you make it be warned, it’s way to easy to start eating little spoonfuls of the topping straight out of the jar! Not that… you know… I’ve ever done that. :)

Veronica, my mom always used to buy me those Life Savers storybooks that have like ten rolls of different flavors in them! Including butter rum!

And I would totally be putting that butterscotch sauce in some strong black tea with milk… Mmm.

I think this is the last blend to try from the 52Teas blends I received in January from Lala; putting this one off for last wasn’t a super conscious decision, but I think that primarily it boiled down my already having a Butter Rum tea in stock and not being as inclined to try this immediately just because of that fact.

Dry, this sadly doesn’t smell anything like Buttered Rum; mostly it just smells like Frank’s black base. Now that it’s steeping, there is a little more flavour and aroma to the liquor, but nothing terribly distinct or “wowing”.

And now that I’m trying it I have to say that really all I’m getting is the black base and maybe just the teeniest hint of rum in the end sip/aftertaste. Whah, whah, whaaaah

That’s alright; you can’t love ’em all. I guess I had my 52Teas “Fireworks moment” for the week last night with the Pineapple Bacon Rooibos I made.

EDIT: Now that it’s cooled significantly I am getting slightly more rum taste in the aftertaste – though it’s still milk, and it reminds me of artificial rum extract you use in baking. Meh.

Day 8- 12 Teas of XMAS

I agree with other reviews on this when I say that this tastes more like candy than actual rum. And I would even agree that it comes through a lot like butterscotch. Very meh.

So we’re on day….eight of the 12 Days of X-mas sampler, I think?

Yum, I’m really enjoying this blend. It has a really smooth and distinctly buttery flavour with very distinct notes of rum. Drinking it actually makes me think of butterscotch lifesavers. The flavour of this tea strikes me as being somewhat similar to the Brandy Butter Cake but with less of a cakey component. I’m one of those uneducated drinkers who can’t really tell brandy and rum apart – though apparently they both work very well with butter.
