This was heavy on the lemon balm and didn’t have much cheesecake or vanilla notes in here. The base also wasn’t as roasty as most houjchas I have experienced in the past. I liked this but seemed a little flat considering its name and description. Totally something I would sip on whilst sick, as a sweet positive about it is that it was extremely soothing to drink, however, it was not what I was expecting.

Whoops, getting back to this and reporting on its cold brew capabilities, it is indeed better this way. The fruity notes aren’t as artificial, and the base is crisper. I wouldn’t want to get more if it were to come back but it’s a refreshing thirst-quencher.

Loving the generous chunks of raspberry and orange in this blend, and am stoked to try this cold brewed, but will have to wait until tomorrow since I just put the jug into the fridge now. I’m trying it hot now and it’s not my favourite.

To back things up a bit, I will admit that I am a little disappointed in the scent of the dry leaf. It’s a little on the artificial side, especially orange, and I’m barely getting any raspberry. Unfortunately, its flavour is the same: mostly artificial orange and almost no raspberry. The green rooibos base is very faint.

Reserving rating this until I try it cold brewed tomorrow.

My boyfriend and I split the taster envelope a few weeks ago but I’ve yet to write about it because reasons. Busy reasons. I do recall liking this, picking up on both peach and cheesecake notes on top of a gentle honeybush base. If only there were more than 24 hours in a day so that I could find more time to write reviews. Sigh!

Sipdown! So sad that it’s been over three weeks since writing anything here. Between work being insane, getting sick, and having other responsibilities outside of work, I have barely had any time for myself, even to drink tea at home! I polished this off at work at least. Snuck a couple bags into my water bottle so that I could enjoy lemon chiffon cake-flavoured water in between the craziness. I wouldn’t buy this again but it made making tea in a rush before heading out to work easier, and bonus points for getting it on clearance.

Somehow, this tastes like a subdued version of Amoda’s Happy Pumpkin. That one is loaded with chunks of pumpkin, and additionally comprises allspice, coconut, cacao nibs, and orange peel—which this one lacks. I would have expected a little more from the Assam base here but I’m detecting mostly cinnamon and ginger with a squash note.

Now to brave walking approximately fifteen blocks in -32°C (with windchill) weather.

I remember trying this as an iced SBT many years ago and thinking that it was just ok, especially when comparing it to the Rainbow Sherbet, which I loved to pieces. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t work for me. The Neapolitan flavours in here are weak to begin with; the chocolate is weak while the strawberry is both weak and slightly artificial. The vanilla is hardly detectable. I normally like honeybush more than rooibos, but I’m not a fan of this one, especially when comparing it to the recent rooibos blends I’ve had from 52teas. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I find this base to be a little on the sour side. Yet I’ve had great luck with some recent honeybush blends, so go figure.

This is freaking delicious. The scent of the dry leaf truly smells like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, probably more than any other chocolate orange blend I’ve had. Even more than Butiki’s Three Friends? I swear.

With 2% milk, I pick up on the orange notes more so than the chocolate, but it still works. That orange note reminds me so much of Cointreau, and takes me back to when I bought a bottle of it nearly ten years ago for a dessert, didn’t know what to do with the rest, and ended up getting into the habit of making hot cocoa with Fry’s, milk, and sugar, then topped off with Cointreau. I was initially wary of the rooibos in here thinking it was going to take everything over but this was a rather mild rooibos, not too woody in flavour at all.

I shared the last mug with my boyfriend, who also highly approves, and we agreed that this deserves an 85 rating. I’d love for this to be remade so that I could grab a full size. The taster just wasn’t enough.

EDIT: Whoa, the full size is currently available after all. Uh oh…

So stoked to finally try this! Since I’m trying to avoid caffeine while sick, this seems to fit the bill. I was really curious as to how this date-heavy blend would taste, especially combined with my beloved cardamom. My boyfriend was oh-so generous to pick some of this up all the way from Köln, where the owner pointed out that his has special brewing instructions.

You’re basically supposed to brew it for fifteen minutes, which I did, and added two Perfect Teaspoons into a Nordic Mug. I tasted a shred of dates when this was piping hot, but now that it’s cooled down a bit, I’m getting mostly baked apple with a sprinkling of brown sugar and cinnamon. I was expecting this to taste more exotic, if-you-will, like a fancy Middle Eastern dessert but rather, I get apple pie. It’s good! But just not what I was expecting.

I’ll keep experimenting to see if I can get more of the date, cardamom, and ginger notes.

Wow, over three weeks since posting? Time flies when you’re stupendously busy during the Christmas rush and battling a strange virus.

This tea was inspired by Axl Rose, eh? In that case, I would have liked a little more rose. All three cups from my sampler were heavier on the berry and the slightly astringent base but I sadly couldn’t pick up on that much rose, or any floral note for that matter.

Not 52teas’ best but still easy to drink, and I’m glad to have tried it in the end.
