518 Tasting Notes
Thanks for the sample of this one, boychik
This one is really good. Green and fresh and vegetal and sweet. I’m really enjoying it. The dry leaf was just so pretty and the tea tastes even better.

I liked it so much better when I had it before. Not sure what it was, if it was the tea or me or just who knows what.
Ah well.
Tea Advent Calendar day 9
Wow. Can you say bergamot? I’m not sure where the lady was. I could smell her as the tea was steeping, but after that, it was all bergamot. Really, really, really strong bergamot.

As this one cooled off, I could kind of almost taste the vanilla, but not as much as I wanted to. It was just too bergamot for me.
I like this tea a lot. It’s smooth and easy drinking. Almost sweet. Tasty.
Word of warning: do not oversteep as it become a bitter mess. UGH.

Advent Calendar Tea, Day 8

A relatively generic shou, I don’t know what year, or anything about it.
There was only right about 3.5g. I normally do my shou with right around 5g, so it was underleafed for my gaiwan. I don’t know if that’s why I felt this was weak, or if it really just didn’t have much flavor.

I only got a few infusions out of it. Then I gave up and tried for one long infusion. It didn’t improve.
Ah well.
I think it would be a good complete beginner shou. It’s not overly strong or too earthy, and it doesn’t have any off flavors. I’m still a beginner to pu’erh, but I think that I’ve advanced beyond this one.

From the matcha in with the sencha, the tea is a little cloudy. It’s nice, but not outstanding. It wasn’t bitter at all, though, fairly sweet, but not as strong as I like. (I generally overleaf my sencha, so I made it in my 5oz cup, but I still felt like there wasn’t enough here.)
There were several specific years of this tea in the database. Since I couldn’t identify what year this was, what harvest this was, I just created a generic one. Why not.
This is today’s advent calendar tea.
Ya Bao is one of my favorite styles of tea. I love it.
I decided to have this one grandpa style. This tea is good flavor-wise grandpa style, but trickier to drink because the buds float. A wider mouth cup so one can gently blow the tea out of the way before drinking is highly recommended.
This version of ya bao is not as strong or sweet as many others I have had, but it’s still quite nice. The lighter flavors are really good for grandpa style.
Yum!!

It’s amazing tea. Amazing.
I am in love.
I also might be a little tea drunk.
smooth. tangy. sweet.
The aroma is a earthy, but the tea doesn’t taste earthy to me. It just tastes amazing.
I wish I had better words to say because this is not doing this tea justice.
Tea Advent Calendar, day 4
I wasn’t overly impressed with this tea. It wasn’t anything special, although it wasn’t awful. It was actually much better as it cooled off in my cup, and I liked the last cold sip.
It did go well with the praline pecans that someone brought to the office today.
