95 Tasting Notes
I brewed this with water just under boiling for 4 minutes. I am drinking it hot, though I also think it would be fabulous chilled.
White tea and melon flavors pair so well together. This tea is smooth and juicy, with a nice clean aftertaste. I love silver needle teas for their light, sweet, and refreshing taste. This one hits all those points nicely without being bitter or astringent, and the watermelon flavor is just bonus. It also smells great. Personally, I prefer this over the Butiki Cantaloupe & Cream.
Preparation
Brewed this for 3 minutes with 180°F water and then put in the refrigerator to chill, since I drink most of my teas chilled.
I always want to love nutty flavored teas, but usually I just don’t. I love eating nuts, but for some reason it doesn’t translate into tea for me. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. It is very enjoyable. It tastes like baked almond cookies and the aroma is delicious. The green tea, cinnamon, and almond (think Jordan Almonds) flavors combine to make something that is sweet, baked like a cookie, and not over the top almond. I still don’t know that this is something that I could or would want to drink regularly. There is something that keeps me from gulping it and I know I’ll hit my limit before my thermos is finished. Funny that I could eat almonds all day long, but can’t drink more than a cup of almond tea at a sitting.
There is a slight offness to the aftertaste, but otherwise it’s sweet almond and cinnamon.
Preparation
The dry leaf is really attractive and smells wonderful.
I made my cup of tea by steeping 2 teaspoons of tea in a cup of near boiling water for about 4 minutes.
I am enjoying this cup of tea, but to me the flavoring is very weak. I’m not really sure that I taste banana or walnuts. The black tea is excellent. So smooth and no bitterness or astringency. The aftertaste is short and clean, with maybe a hint of the walnut? There is a slightly sour, slightly fruity taste that I think must be the banana, but it really isn’t terribly distinct for me. Maybe it’s the taste of a slightly green banana? I’m not sure. I find the flavoring very subtle, more so than I typically prefer.
Preparation
I steep this for about 2 minutes with near boiling water.
I definitely taste the crisp, juicy apple on the backdrop of a darker, earthy oolong. I’m not sure that I taste the caramel as much. Certainly not like in one of my favorites, Cashew Turtle. This tea is really smooth, not at all bitter or astringent. And, something about it leaves my my mouth watering like biting into a juicy apple.
Preparation
I brewed this with near boiling water for just over 1 minute. I used a generous amount of tea (approximately 1.5 tsp) for my 8oz of water.
The taste is sweet and juicy. Between the green tea and peach flavoring, it is really sweet. There is a component of soft cardamom, which is more detectable in the aftertaste than as a main flavor. The tea is really smooth with no bitterness and only a touch of astringency. Everything about this tea is soft, light, and pleasant.
Preparation
This tea has a fantastic blueberry flavor paired with a good solid astringent malty black tea. I really enjoy all the blueberry teas from 52Teas because the flavoring is so authentic and doesn’t have an artificial flavor or aftertaste. The aftertaste of this tea is clean with a sort of malty blueberry flavor. I remember this having more marshmallow flavor back when I first bought it, but now that seems to have disappeared. The blueberry flavor has remained really good though. So, this is more of just a plain good blueberry tea now.
I brewed the tea hot with 195°F water for 4 minutes and put the tea in the refrigerator overnight to chill. I am drinking it chilled.
Preparation
If I had written this tasting note when I first tasted this tea, the rating would be much lower. It has grown on me. Or, maybe I’ve just learned the brewing parameters that work for me. Either way this is becoming one of my favorites.
The black tea base is definitely astringent but not bitter. This astringency has grown on me especially in iced tea form. I think it adds something to the texture and quality of the tea. I love the pancake taste also. Definitely maple syrup and butter. I did not get butter when I first brewed this, but now I do. And the aftertaste is a clean maple syrup taste without anything artificial. It’s just good.
I brewed the tea with near boiling water for 5 minutes and then chilled it overnight. And, like many iced teas, I think it actually tastes best after about 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but not longer than 4. It must be stored in a completely closed container though. If it is open to the refrigerator then it starts tasting poorer after only 1 day.
Preparation
This tastes like creamy banana and coconut. It has a distinctive black tea backdrop. I really like it, but I think I will brew it a little longer next time to get a little more flavor.
I brewed this hot using 200°F water and then chilled it overnight. Unfortunately I forgot to set my timer. When I realized this I panicked a little and removed the tea bag to prevent it from becoming bitter. Well, I have no idea how long it brewed for, but I should have let it brew longer because I think the flavors are just a little weak and there is no bitterness.
Preparation
This is a refreshing iced tea. It has a predominantly lemon flavor with something tartly melon mixed in and the aftertaste of a nice sencha. There are no off or artificial flavors. It is not bitter or astringent at all. It is actually pretty sweet tasting, but does not have a very lingering aftertaste. This is good.
I brewed it for 3 minutes using 185 °F water and then chilled overnight in the refrigerator.
