This was the perfect tea to start my sunny but cool fall day. It’s beautiful to look at, first of all, a field of beautiful dried flowers on a rich earthy shu background, but also rich & satisfying, with a zingy kind of quality from the chrysanthemums. I’ve always enjoyed chrysanthemums alone as an evening cup, especially nice while fixing dinner. They seem to be good for my appetite, and so I sipped this one while fixing breakfast, and while eating my breakfast soup, and after breakfast as well.

I tossed one of these in my hiatus-breaking order because I’ve never had chrysanthemum before. It sounded interesting.
It is interesting! Probably my favorite flower to have as a tea, mainly because it doesn’t taste so…florally? At least not in a tutti fruity kind of way, if that makes sense…like it doesn’t remotely taste like bubble bath!
I’ve got it in the queue and am looking forward to trying it. I’m working my way thru my new sheng samples first to see which cakes I want to buy.
I know what you mean. I’ve prioritized them by what I’m most likely to purchase soon, aided by the wonderful reviewers here on Steepster! I’ve had some sheng samples so long the cakes are sold out, so they’re now at the bottom of the queue.
Yeah, I have had that ‘sold out’ prob too.
I’m trying to focus on drinking teas from a location, or specific producer. So the current project is Master Han Bricks (I have years 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, plus various others from him that are not in brick form). I figure I’ll focus on those for awhile. Then maybe I’ll sample everything I have from Yiwu, or some other location :) Or maybe all the Purple ones, LOL
I tried that, but kept forgetting and bought whole cakes anyway. It’s getting hard to hide them all.
Mine are on the 3rd floor n my bedroom. Someday when I die my kids will find them & it will be like an episode of hoarders…
My grand daughter comes over for tea, but I’ve never taken her beyond the collection in my office, LOL. She currently only likes teas that taste good sweetened…

I have so many samples to work my way through!

You should have seen my grand-son’s eyes when I showed him my stash.
