I’ve got big droopy puppy eyes as I’m writing this review, so I’m going to whine about being tired and writing a short review A SECOND TIME.

I really do love this tea, it’s probably my favorite kangaroo blend. Missy prefers 52teas Melange Rooibos, due to the lacking of ginger. I, however, happen to enjoy ginger.

It’s just spicy, and warm, and tasty, and gosh darn flavorful. Serendipitea really does kangaroo well in a lot of blends.

Kittenna

Kangaroo! Made me smile :) I feel like I’ve said this before :D

Dylan Oxford

haha, it’s still a welcome comment, any time!

Amber

sounds like you got a case of the warm fuzzies. :D

Score! This is the rooibos chai I’ve been looking for. It has the perfect blend of spices. It’s especially awesome that the rooibos doesn’t fade away with all these spices. Clove and cinnamon are the most dominant flavors. Rooibos makes an appearance now with ginger as a partner. Last but not least, is pepper. A wonderful tea I’ll need to keep in the cupboard.

How serendipitous that you and Dylan drank and reviewd this tea so closely in time. :))

Missy

Hehe, yeah he was ready for bed, and I was trying to get it typed out before I had to use my nook for steepster. :)

ScottTeaMan

Do you like your Nook? I’ll buy the nook before the Kindle.

Missy

I love it! I have the nook color that dylan modified so it works like an andriod. If I remember right it’s easier on the wallet than the kindle. I would recommend it if that’s a concern.

ScottTeaMan

I just was drawn to it….plus, I was looking for another option besides Kindle.

Dylan Oxford

Yeah, there is some required geeky-ness to getting the Nook Color to work like I have Missy’s working. If you’re looking for something that’s a little simple, I’d go for the Kindle Fire. It also runs circles around the hacked NC, as far as navigation and such. But you can get some of the refurbished NCs for dirt cheap lately, like $100-125 at times. Heck, a new NC is only $150 until Mother’s day… not too shabby.

My favorite rooibos chai is West Cape Chai from Rishi, but because they only sell it in large bulk amounts (it doesn’t matter how much I like a tea, I do not need a pound of it at any given time!) I usually have to hunt it down through resellers. I believe at the time I was making a Tea Runners order and they carried it, but it was sold out so I went with a different rooibos chai they had at the time, which was this one sourced from SerendipiTea.

I love the aroma of this tea, both dry and steeped, and while it has a nice flavor as well, it still doesn’t edge out Rishi’s West Cape Chai for me. The spice blend is very good — they blend together nicely but at the same time can be picked out distinctly — but I feel like the base rooibos isn’t quite as flavorful as I’d like? The spices in the tea are pretty warming… it just borders on being “too much” for me (I am the world’s most sensitive spice-wuss) so it leaves a bit of a peppery/gingery kick at the back of my throat after the sip, which I’m not the biggest fan of but I imagine would be quite flavorful and pleasant to others. I suspect this will hold up to milk nicely, so next time I’ll prepare it that way and then I think it’ll be just right for me.

This is a perfectly fine caffeine-free chai option and very nice against the brisk winter winds we have at this time of year.
