Earl Grey Imperial

I bought a tin of Harney and Sons Early Grey and Earl Grey Imperial on the same day, and I just finished the regular Earl Grey, having loved every cup. When I cracked the seal on this tin I wondered how much better it could possibly be than the regular Earl Grey. What I loved about the regular Earl Grey was its simplicity. They just take damn good tea leaves, add a hint of bergamot, and that’s it (and for the record, that’s all an Earl Grey should ever be). The Earl Grey Imperial has the same formula, but it’s even better. The quality of the tea leaves in this blend is amazing. Every flavor in the cup is perfectly balanced. No single flavor overpowers any other, which makes every sip an absolute delight. This is the best Earl Grey I’ve tasted yet, and I look forward to many more cups of this tea in the future.

After the sadness of the Celestial Seasonings version earlier in the week, and since I am working from home today (where I keep this tea), I had a cup of this one today. It doesn’t always register as particularly good tea, especially if I’ve been drinking a lot of the loose leafs, but this is one really nice bagged tea, actually.

It’s a lovely cozy winter tea when warm, but even if I let it cool it tastes good. It’s bitter but smoothly blended with the citrusy bergamot, kind of ends with a hint of sweetness to me.

I’ve not had a huge variety of Earl Greys but this is definitely my favorite that I’ve tried.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Earl Grey’s, so it seems fitting an Earl Grey would be my first tasting note on Steepster. I purchased this tea with high expectations but was disappointed with the rather weak flavor. The base is pleasing enough but somewhat bland, perhaps due to the addition of oolong. As for the bergamot, it is too dainty for my preference, though it does leave a pleasant aftertaste. The leaves have a nice aroma, and I give them points for the cute tin, but I won’t purchase this particular Earl Grey again.

We stayed in a fancy B&B that had Harney and Sons teas and I was really bored with all of them except this one. It’s one of the few Earl Greys that can get strong enough to stand up to milk and sugar without coming off as perfumy.

When i’m half asleep and in a rush to classes, early grey teas are my savior.
I couldn’t seem to find my Tazo earl grey, which although i’m not normally a fan of Tazo tea, I do quite enjoy. So this one will have to do.

I need a new travel mug for my tea like I need air. I’m currently using a little cheap plastic one which is really gross and I’ve been meaning to go into DAVIDs soon because I’ve been thinking about getting this mug because I really want a clear one (for no reason other than they’re super pretty oops) but i’m still not 100% sure:

I feel like a glass mug would be nicer because there wouldn’t be any retention of flavours of previous teas and it would be easier to clean. I’d have to be super careful with temperature though, and not to drop it haha!

This Earl Grey tea has a very subtle bergamot flavor, and the underlying taste of the black tea is not hidden by cloying oils.

Can anyone compare the flavor of the Harney & Sons Earl Grey Imperial with the flavor of the Earl Grey Supreme and the regular H&S Earl Grey? Thanks.
