Citrus country

’Here’s Hoping’ Teabox Round #4 – Tea #9
I woke up thinking of pu-erh due to a dream with pu-erh being important to some spyish plot. I thought I’d give this one a try from the teabox, though the hibiscus was a little terrifying. It doesn’t seem to add much to the flavor but some tartness, but that could be the citrus too. The flavor isn’t the best (hard to explain), but I expected worse.

All I taste when I drink this is the hibiscus. So, I guess if you like hibiscus but want some caffeine in your tea, maybe it would be a good option? It’s very tart and refreshing, but I was disappointed by how little I could taste of the pu’erh.

For me this is very meh. I don’t know if Pu’erh is just not my thing, but I wasn’t thrilled by this tea. It was alright, but the orange is not that noticeable, and it gets more dull as you drink… I only got a small sample of it, so I finished what I had but I would not buy it…

I don’t mind the pu’erh part of this. It’s deep and rich and has a bit of body. But there’s too much and hibiscus and not enough orange for my tastes. Thankfully it lacked the metallic taste that hibiscus can sometime impart, though.
The hibiscus tartness got even stronger as it cooled.
I must say that it is a very nice tea if you like oranges. It’s really a pure orange flavor, not that fake, sweet, medicinal, artificial orange taste. It’s the real thing in here. And that’s really about it, it’s a very simple tea and it actually reminds me a bit of orange pekoe (my mom concurs).
