“Our satisfying Chamomile tea is cherished by many as a soothing antidote for life’s complications. We’ve added the delicious flavor of creamy, nutty vanilla, along with golden honey and just a hint of refreshing orange to complement our perfect blend of Egyptian and Mexican varieties of chamomile in this relaxing herbal tea.”
— Charlie Baden, Celestial Seasonings Blendmaster

The Celestial Seasonings brand is one I either tend to like or hate. I rarely love any of their flavor offerings.

For this tea flavoring, I am only interested in trying it as a hot tea. I used one tea bag for approximately 8 ounces of water and allowed it to steep for about 5 minutes with boiling water.

I was pleasantly surprised by the tea bag’s aroma before steeping and that appreciation continued even once I removed the bag from the water. The aroma of the tea leaves are subtle with the typical, almost chemical, smell of honey / sweet flavoring. I’d add that I picked up on a hint of a nutty scent.

Without any cream or sugar (substitute) added this is an acceptable tasting tea. Nothing fantastic, yet, not displeasing. I like to keep a few varieties of tea bags on hand for nights where I don’t feel up to brewing a proper cup of tea. This one hits the mark and is very budget friendly.

Adding a small amount of cream seems to draw out a bit of flavor from that nutty scent I was picking up on and it is a welcomed enhancement to the tea giving it a bit more complexity, again something I find generally lacking with the Celestial Seasonings brand.

Finally, I added a bit of sugar (substitute) and for whatever reason it almost watered down the flavor. I would probably skip sugar altogether or only use a very small amount (1/4 teaspoon or less).

While I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy this flavor again as there are evening blends I prefer more, it’s not one I would avoid, either. An acceptable cup of bagged tea.

I love this tea. I feel like my tea journey should have taken my palate far beyond a CS bagged grocery store tea, but it has been in my house as a staple the past 20 years or so. This tea reminds me of the year of winter. I was living in the states, winter had just barely broken into spring when I moved to Perth, Australia for 6 months. Winter was about to start over there and when spring came I moved back to the states for fall and winter there. I bought a thermos in Perth, would fill it with this tea, some honey and soy milk and drink it all day at work, trying to stay warm in the old building, dreading having to go up to the breezy uninsulated rooftop bathrooms and loose all my built up body heat.
I don’t think I have ever had a cup of this without adding anything, but I’m noticing a sweetness in the sip. The sip is a little flat, but the chamomile comes through in the finish. Such a nice reliable warming cup!

Honey Vanilla Chamomile is my favorite tea from Celestial Seasonings! Wonderful! Their Madagascar Vanilla is excellent too if you like rooibos tea.

Dustin

I’m not much of a rooibos fan. I do like green rooibos sometimes, but don’t favor red. Bengal Spice is another CS tea that I have always loved. I’m about due for another box soon.

Yes! Bengal Spice!

I’m not really a fan of the taste of chamomile, unless it is a background note. Is it the main flavor note in this? If it’s more of a background note, I’d be inclined to give it a try!

I agree completely on Bengal Spice; it’s one of the few bagged teas I still really enjoy.

Dustin

It is mainly chamomile, but a little more mellow and rounded out flavor than just plain chamomile. I’m able to pick out the honey and I’m guessing the vanilla is the roundness I was trying to describe.

Really does taste like syrupy honey on the tongue.

I really like the flavor of this tea. I really wish I could find it organic somewhere. Great vanilla scent, flavor blend well to tone down the chamomile.

I got 3 tea bags of this from a wonderful friend in the mail, and I’m trying it tonight. I’m not usually a chamomile fan, but this tea isn’t bad. I like the honey and orangey tastes to it – along with the hint of vanilla.

I drank this a lot in college when I was into herbal teas. It’s sweet, as in you can tell it’s artificially sweet. Good to drink if you want something hot and unassuming to go along with your studies.

My husband bought this for me. I’m not wild about it, but it is nice break from all the straight chamomile I’ve been drinking. (I’m breastfeeding an excessively gassy baby, and the chamomile that gets into the boob juice seems to help) My two year old thinks it’s pretty good, though.

Used this to make a Chamomile latte. Used a spoon of honey, a little cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon and clove. Turned out well.

So, it was cheaper to throw in a box of tea to my amazon order than to pay for shipping, so that’s what I did. This came in a sampler pack of 5, which gets my cupboard number up to 67. It’s never been that high before. As mentioned though, it’s mostly all small samples and my number will only go down from here….

This is the tea that I was most skeptical about. Reading the name, I thought it was going to be cloyingly sweet, and reading the ingredients I thought it was going to be a blast of licorice. Since the ingredients are finely ground I only steeped the bag for 1 min and it still produced a strong cup. Surprise surprise- it actually does have a bit of a honey-vanilla flavour that doesn’t seem artificial to me or is cloyingly sweet! There is also a good, basic chamomile flavour and no gross licorice taste. I really enjoyed this tea, and I got my husband to try some and he liked it too. This may be a repurchase!
