Gongfu Sipdown (1471)!
Takes a bit to get these unique compressed minis to open up, but with a rinse and some patience (and a little extra prying to assist) this made for a pleasantly easy going tea session with a lot of straightforward notes of hay, honeysuckle, and peach skins. However, I really enjoy the steeps when really pushed quite hard as the flavour develops into a richer buckwheat honey and brûleéd peach/nectarine note with an overall very autumnal feel to it!
I see that, in the past, I rated this quite high and based on this session I’m not sure I feel like it’s worth quite that high of a rating. That said, it’s a nice tea! I prefer the Jingmai sheng pressed into these same mountain shapes, but I could maybe see this making its way into a future order (if they’re even still in stock!?) because it would be a nice and convenient travel tea option.
