Lemon-Lime Cheesecake Honeybush

Backlogging from yesterday.
Dry leaves smell awesome. POW lemon-lime cheesecake in your face. And it smells so creamy, is there such thing as a nose-feel, like a mouth-feel? Because it’s like I can feel the cream in my nose. LOL. Steeped this up double strength to pour over ice. Eye brows immediately shoot up, (this has come to be an expected reaction from 52 Tea’s blends). The first lemon-lime blend I’ve ever tasted that doesn’t taste like cleaner. This reminds me more of something very natural, like lemongrass. And I really like that. I think the addition of lemon myrtle was a very wise choice. The cheesecake is present and lends a smoothness and matches the tang of the citrus. It’s very enjoyable without any additives. Very light and refreshing! My bf said he could drink this all day. I experimented with a dash of cream and sugar. Really great, either way. Great job, Frank.

This smells go good. I do very much like lemon-lime teas. It’s similar to another citrus rooibos tea I really like, but more cheesecakey.

I got a smaple from Jenn and Ashley (Sending you good energy for your move Ash). It’s great, but I’m getting the same plastic-y feeling in my mouth that I get from other honeybush blends. Still, I feel lucky to have something like this for an evening treat.

I got the cheesecake taste in the aftertaste, very nice and makes a great late night latte!

Packaging: 52Teas packaging is very professional: small silver zip locked bags with a clear front that has a 3” X 3” label on it which has the name of the tea, an ingredient list, and an expertly created picture of the food item that the tea replicates.

Aroma of dry leaf: Strong lemon-lime scent; good!

Brewing guidelines: I used a metal basket strainer inside a ceramic 16 oz. cup, such that I put a lid over the top to keep the heat in. Cup was warmed before steeping. Stevia added.

…………….2nd: boiling, 4’
…………….3rd: spot on boiling, 6’
…………….4th: even more spot on boiling, 10’

Aroma of tea liquor: strong lemon-lime aroma.

Flavor of tea liquor: sweet, lemon-lime.

Overall: First off, I want to admit that I am a little biased here: I like the flavor of lime in just about anything, and I really like cheesecake. The flavor was a little odd at first, but once my taste buds and the tea got acquainted, we all got along fairly well. I don’t know if I taste any cheesecake in here, but I definitely taste the lemon-lime flavor, and I like it! It had good flavor right up through the forth steeping. It’s unusual, its sweet, it’s good. This is a tea I could drink often.

Mmmmm… This tea is magical. It smells so delectably limey. I feel the brightness of the lemon all over my tongue. I get a sense of crust and cream cheese in the smell but not really the taste. There’s a smooth earthiness from the honeybush in the finish. There’s also a tingle in the back of my throat as I swallow. Kinda like a ghostly fizz. I love it. I also love that it’s not actually tart, but only hints at tartness. It’s very refreshing!

I’ve never had a honeybush tea before, but this is a good first impression. I definitely taste something similar to rooibus in this, but it lacks the strong medicinal flavor I associate with rooibus. I wonder what plain honeybush tastes like…
Anyway, I could drink tea this everyday! I can’t wait to try it cool.

I silhouetted expected this tea to taste like sprite… but let me tell you, I taste only one thing….. KEY LIME PIE! I can taste the crust, and the tangy filling. I just don’t taste the cheesecake. It’s nummy though.

I’m not quite as into this as most of the other reviewing folks are. I LIKE it, but I’m not gaga for it. I’ve been drinking this iced, of course, because even though it’s nearly October in Houston it’s still in the upper 90s. (It’s 8pm right now and 82 degrees). So, while hot tea has its place, like when I’m stuck in the many overly air conditioned buildings around town, iced tea still happens daily.

Anyway, this one manages to remind me closely of a rooibos lemon meringue I have, despite being honeybush and having lime in it. It’s citrusy and bright, but I’m not getting cheesecake or crust or anything some of the other folks are getting. Just a good decaf citrusy tea, perfect for icing.

Lime flavoring and I don’t get along. It just tastes like cleaner to me. I don’t taste much else other than that cleaner flavor and some slightly peppery honeybush. Possibly there’s some creaminess, but I’m drinking it with milk to try to bring out the cheesecake vibes. I drank the whole cup, but I’ll likely pass along the rest of the bag.

I never tried this when it was released before so I wanted to get some after realizing it was reblended. I really liked the lemon lime meringue kukicha when 52 T had it a few years ago.

This smells very citrusy in the package, and I’d have to say the lime is the strongest element of this particular brew. I find that I like lime in tea when it is done well (as I also like DT Lime Gelato). The honeybush is slightly sweet and I get a vague sense of creaminess but I decided to enhance that with some soymilk for a better cheesecake type of experience. This is both good and refreshing to me as I also like the zing of lemon myrtle. I am betting this would be really nice iced as well. Not exactly a cheesecake in my mind, but pretty tasty nonetheless.

Now that 52 T has their smaller packages I am really tempted to sign up for tea of the month but should probably wait until I have a job. I am pretty sure I’d spend my last dollar on a cup of tea. ;)
