One from the sale! A mix of rooibos and lapsang… looks like mostly rooibos. The dry leaf has the scent of marzipan. I am heartened by seeing a piece of vanilla in my scoop! Can’t fail with real vanilla… Even though this is a fresh blend, I swear I am not tasting ANY maple or ANY bacon or even any smokiness from the lapsang. The description also mentions chipotle and cinnamon and puerh which I also definitely did not detect. Whatever is going on with this tea? The resulting flavor however, is a nice dose of vanilla which I can always appreciate… a smooth vanilla cup. This is especially sad because I was VERY careful and delicate with that first steep, which usually allows flavors to thrive in tea as much as possible, and tried to milk it for all it’s worth on the second steep. Both steeps tasted the same. So really, this blend ends up tasting like a vanilla rooibos with a hint of marzipan. Not what the name was going for. I can’t state enough about appreciating that real vanilla though!
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons // 25 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // 2 minutes after boiling // 5 minute steep
Flavors: Marzipan, Vanilla
I wonder if they tweaked their proportions because that sounds really different to the batch I had a few months ago!
Yeah, probably. :/
