Mmm, good afternoon tea. Mixed the leaves in with leftover leaves from last night’s Ti Kwan Yin (Dragon Pearl Whole Teas). Hopefully that should smooth out the flavour.

Mmm, I like this tea…
Good enough quality that it is pleasurable to drink, yet cheap enough that if I get distracted and let part of the pot go cold, I do not regret it.

This tea is growing on me. Every time I make another pot of it, I begin to have more and more of a taste for it.

Good for a morning’s first pot. Went wonderfully with my spicy scrambled eggs and sharp cheddar cheese.
I have noticed that jasmine green teas go especially well with many cheeses.

Third steeping of the same leaves == weak cuppa. Oh well, it was tea. And we all know tea == good.

Had a bag of this brewed up in my little two-cup teapot.
Upon removing the bag from the packaging, the firs thing I noticed was that it smelled like raisins…
The smell upon pouring the first cup, after about three minutes of steeping, was quite floral.
Perhaps it was something I had eaten earlier, but the flavours simply did not agree with my taste buds. I like floral teas, but this is one that makes it taste as though you’re drinking liquid flowers. Not very pleasant. Might have been better with some sugar or honey (though either of those may have overwhelmed the tea itself).

Edit: I later ended up dumping the rest of the small pot after only drinking about a third of it. Some people may like this tea, but I’m afraid I’m not among them.

Resteeped the leaves I used last night. A bit longer on the steeping time. Not as overwhelming, though I’m afraid this could be one of those teas that does funny things to one’s stomach first thing in the morning if nothing is eaten ahead of time.

Whoah. It said to steep for five minutes. 30 seconds might have been a better option, as I steeped this for a minute in my two-cup teapot, and it was plenty strong. This is definitely one tea you have to feel in the mood for, as the smoky smell and flavour can be slightly overwhelming.

Bio

“I love trading tea and trying new teas. My favourites are oolong (mainly Chinese) and pu’erh.
Will gladly talk all day about tea.”

The above was my bio when I joined five years ago, and I felt it needed to be updated. I still love pu’erh, though I have begun to take preference toward cooked, shou. Oolongs are certainly still a go-to tea for me, but I have expanded my horizons to begin including greens and blacks based upon the weather and how I am feeling.

Still more than glad to talk about tea – anytime, anywhere, anyplace.
Additionally, if fountain pens, books, music, or computers are on the discussion list…

My ratings, this “personal enjoyment scale” about which I talk, are just that – based on how much I enjoyed the tea. I might have enjoyed it immensely, yet do not keep it stocked for various reasons. On the flip side, I have a few teas that are “good” but not “great,” which I keep stocked for various reasons.
