I thought this was called sticky rice pudding for some reason! But sticky rice oolong definitely lives up to its namesake. It smells and tastes like rice. So if you like rice, you will like this tea. It also has no astringency at all. A very good, pleasant tea.

What an interesting concept!

It is quite good! <3 But you have to like rice to enjoy this tea! I imagine it would be difficult to like if you did not like rice, lol! :)

Courtney

Hahah! I did get that impression as well from your note. :)

The What-Cha version of this is amazing! Would highly recommend.

I’ll have to check out the What-Cha version! Never heard of them before! :) Thank you!

I can’t believe I never reviewed this, but I really enjoyed this blend. I can hardly taste the vegetal green tea taste. It mostly tastes like cinnamon, apples, and the coconut gives it an interesting mouthfeel. I wish the apple/cinnamon notes were stronger though!

It reminds me of the pumpkin pie tart tea Deb has. I quite enjoyed this one! :)

After a few sips of this tea… I think I added way too much matcha. I will say that this is a very sweet tea (I mean, the first ingredient is cane sugar) and takes milk well. However, next time, I will use it sparingly since it is so sweet.

Today was exhausting! So, I tore into one of the matcha teas I ordered from David’s Tea for a much needed energy boost.

Everyone kept saying such good things about this one, so I added it to my cart.

To be honest, after the disappointment of salted caramel oolong, my hopes for this one were low. I disliked salted caramel oolong because it was way too salty and artificial tasting.

I added salted caramel matcha to some coconut-almond milk, and wow it was so good! It tasted like a salted caramel milkshake, but the vegetal quality from the matcha still made this feel like a tea. I am honestly so impressed that they could nail the caramel to salt ratio with this one.

I loved it! I will repurchase this (I hope they keep it in stock next year!)

I’m going to bump up my rating by a lot because I seriously cannot believe this has no artificial/natural lychee flavouring in it. It is a traditional oolong tea that tastes like lychee! Amazing.

Phew!!! This tea smells strong like alcohol. I have never had rum before, so I cannot comment on how accurately it smells like it, but I did not find the smell pleasant (but then again, I do not find the smell of alcohol pleasant either). But I am surprised they could capture such a strong alcohol fragrance in a tea.

To be honest, I am not sure how to feel about this tea. I added milk and sugar to do this and made it stove-top style. It had some good coconut and vanilla notes with a hint of alcohol near the end.

I know many people described this as a buttered rum lifesaver? I have never had that or buttered rum flavoured anything before, but I guess this has a candy like quality to it if you add milk and sugar.

I will not repurchase this because I did not enjoy this as a latte, which is what I mostly bought it for. But I think that might come down to my taste buds since I mostly like my lattes to be spicy, strong masala chai flavours.

I need to try this straight to get an accurate assessment of it. But overall, I am not a fan. But it is palatable. I will try to finish this off.

I was a bit nervous about purchasing this tea. From what I know, real milk oolong does not contain natural flavourings. The quality of the tea leaves gives it a milky quality. But everyone kept raving about this tea, so I took a chance and included it in my order.

The dry leaf of this smells vegetal, almost like a green tea, and like powdered milk. It was pleasant, but not the best oolong I have ever smelled.

I always overestimate how much oolong I need, but luckily, I can just re-steep the leaves to get the most value out of them. While I was steeping this, I kid you not – it smelled like a stick of butter. And this creamy, buttery smell stays in the cup after it steeps. It also has minimal astringency.

I would say the taste of this really reminds me of milk. It tastes like cream or milk. I am shocked because this has no calories or fat in it. But oh boy, does it taste rich. Like I cannot drink this right away, I have to take incremental sips.

Overall, this is a wonderful tea and I could see myself repurchasing this.

I used my frequent steeper points on this. Honestly, I had high expectations for this tea because it is so expensive. So, out of my massive recent David’s Tea order, this was the first one that I tried.

The dry leaf of this smells like a good quality black tea. I might get an apricot note if I go looking for it, but other than that, I think it smells more like a black tea. The leaves are absolutely beautiful – long, delicate, and wispy.

I steeped this according to the instructions, and upon first taste, it really tastes like lychees, flowers, and slightly of stone fruit. But for me, the lychee note is the most prominent. It has absolutely no astringency either.

I also look forward to re-steeping this a few times!

Overall, this is a fancy oolong tea. And I would recommend using your frequent steeper points to try this. But I am not sure if I will buy it again on my own.

I enjoyed this tea. I agree with the “fancy” comment.. I also use my FS points to try this and have quite a few bags since I figure traditional tea will keep awhile sealed but still working on sipping my first bag.

That’s awesome! :) And you’re right! Traditional teas will probably keep for much longer since there are no dry fruits and so forth in it. Plus, you can re-steep the phoenix oolong leaves again and again! I am so glad you liked this one too! <3

No… Sadly, this tea is just too oily for me. It is not the coconut flavour that is throwing me off (I love some of Deb’s teas that have coconut in them). But this one, even when I tried steeping it at a lower temperature, just tastes like coconut oil. Maybe I should steep it for less time next time?

I wanted to love this one since I love matcha and cream puffs. I think perhaps if this tea had less coconut and more maple flakes, it would taste a lot better. However, a matcha blend that I would highly recommend (and love) is her minty matcha meringue; so good!

I had this during the morning for an energy boost. I think with this tea; you need to be really careful of the temperature. I know on the label it says 200 degrees, but that is too high I find. It makes the tea turn into coconut oil. Around the 165 mark does it for me and helps this tea taste much better. I am going to make it today as a latte, so very excited about that.

I think what this tea is missing for me is an icing-sugar quality to elevate it to a cream puff!?

Hello everyone!

So, how did I get into tea? I think I have always had a fascination with tea. But I really got obsessed with it after watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. I loved how Uncle Iroh used tea as a way to both practice self-care and connect with others.

I aspire to do the same through my tea endeavours.

My Favourite Canadian Small Tea Businesses: (Thus far! As I explore new tea brands, I am sure this list will grow)

Dessert by Deb
The Tea Haus
The Chai Brewing Company

My Preferred Preparation:
For black teas, I prefer the stove-top method with milk and sugar. For all other teas and herbal infusions, I usually prefer having them hot without any add-ins. However, I do like an occasional iced tea! Especially for some fruity or floral blends.

My Tea Preferences:
I enjoy flavoured teas more than straight teas; however, I do have a soft spot for traditional green or oolong teas.

Favourite Flavours:
- Masala chai (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and other warming spices!)
- Cream
- Mint
- Tropical fruit (lychee, mango, pineapple)
- Maple
- Orange
- Roasted/smokey
- Caramel
- Floral (especially jasmine)
- Honey
- Nuts (hazelnut, almond)
- Sweet potato
- Fall fruits (apples, cranberries)
- Earl Grey
- Vanilla bean

Least Liked Flavours:
- Anything that tastes too artificial (especially vanilla or chocolate!)

- Tart (too much hibiscus)

- Ginseng

- Guarana powder

- Coconut oil (or oily teas)

- Red rooibos
