drank Irish Cream by Oolong Flower Power
23 tasting notes

I stopped in Oolong Flower Power when I was in Dublin last summer. What a lovely shop! They have so many teas along a wall that runs the length of the shop – it was a bit overwhelming and exciting.
Anyways, the tea. It has the traditional Irish Cream flavour, but the flavourings aren’t too strong and I can still taste the black tea leaves. This blend is creamy and delicious.

drank Berry Mania by Steeped Tea

Another sample from the festival this weekend. This tea is alright. It has bit more hibiscus than I would like, but then I’m not usually a fan of hibiscus in anything. There is also a pleasant berry flavour. Overall, this tea doesn’t wow me, so it isn’t likely that I’ll be buying more of it.

drank Chocolate Blueberry by Thay Tea

YUM! This is another one from my Tea Sparrow box that I got yesterday. The dry tea smells like fresh, ripe blueberries and chocolate. After its been brewed I can taste the blueberry flavour more than the chocolate. The chocolate taste is still present, but I think some of it gets lost in the black tea. I might add a splash of milk to this next time I make it.

I will definitely be buying more of this after I finish the sample bag.

Flavors: Blueberry, Chocolate

Boiling 4 min, 45 sec 1 tsp 14 OZ / 414 ML

drank Forever Nuts by DAVIDsTEA

I’m getting through the end of my 2015 advent calendar. I’ve left this tea to the end because I’m pretty familiar with it. It was one of my favourites afew winters ago. I find I like it a bit less now. Maybe I drank too much of it in the past – or maybe my tastes are changing. Huh.

Anyways, the tea. It tastes the way you think it would taste based on the name: nutty. The almond and apple flavours are really present. I find that the cinnamon is there, but not overpowering, which is nice. I like to drink this tea when I am busy working on a project because the cup will still taste good even if I’ve let it steep for way too long.

drank Strawberry Mint by Herbal Republic

So I signed up for a subscription with Tea Sparrow today, and this was one of the first teas (I got to pick my first four teas when I signed up at the tea festival).
I really like this one. It is an all natural blend, which means there are no icky after-tastes :) The strawberry flavour is delicately sweet without being sugary. I can smell the mint, but it is not too overpowering against the strawberry. It adds a fresh taste to the tea. I think I will have to buy more of this tea when I finish my sample.

drank Sweet Almond Green by DAVIDsTEA

I find this tea to be rather soothing. The blend smells like the almond cookies that appear at my house during the winter holidays. The brew has a nice sweetness without the awful after-taste of artificial sweetener. This is definitely my favourite from David’s 2015 Winter Collection.

1 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML

I noticed I didn’t have anything lemony in my tea cupboard, so I picked this tea up over the weekend. I was hoping for something with a stronger lemon flavour, but this tea is still quite nice. There is a slight bitter taste – I can’t tell if that is from the tea or the lemon pieces.

Flavors: Lemon

drank Samovar by Kusmi Tea

Yum! I can’t get enough of this tea. The slightly smoky flavour makes this a really nice mid-morning or mid-afternoon tea. The only thing that would make this tea better for me would be if the smoky flavour was a bit stronger.

Flavors: Smoke, Smooth

drank Pu'erh Ginger (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

I tried to like this tea – really, I did. I’ve tried different brewing times, water temperatures, rinsing the leaves, not rinsing the leaves, single steeps, multiple steeps – I even tried brewing this using different tea ware. But no matter what I try it still tastes and smells fishy.
There is a little bit of ginger flavour, but it does not mask the awful fishy taste. Overall, I am pretty disappointed with this tea.

Flavors: Earth, Fishy

This tea tastes like a punch in the face first thing in the morning and I love it. I usually have it with a splash of milk to take some of the edge off. My tastes aren’t sophisticated enough to tell what kinds of tea are in this blend, but it is quite strong. It reminds me of the standard black tea I had in some of the cafes in Edinburgh. This tea is also great on a cold and rainy afternoon.
