Weak tea. I got this tea from my recent Mei Leaf order, and it really just lacked potency and a fair bit of nuance as well. Beautiful leaves with a nice proportion of buds, decent aroma but could be more potent, as well as a decently vibrant liquor. Flavour is weak with a slight typical white tea nuance of hay and florality in it. Texture is decently okay, nice smooth and slightly juicy. Character is poor to average as the session is very unidimensional and uninteresting. Finish & aftertaste is average to decent, slight lingering hay note with a bit of a spice finish. Cha-qi is almost unnoticeable and steep longevity is poor to mediocre, lasting up to steep 7-8.

Overall, a weak tea that isn’t worth the price. Unless you’re a fan of hot water, I wouldn’t recommend buying this tea. I’ll be experimenting more with this tea though, as maybe I’ve missed something out for what it’s worth. Maybe I’m just too critical of potency, as I could see someone who likes something light become acquiescent to this tea.

Borderline decent tea that just falls short. I got the 2022 harvest of this tea from my recent CS order. Beautiful leaves with a nice but slightly weak aroma and decently vibrant liquor. The flavour is decent but could use more potency, and the texture is average to decent. Character is average, not a lot of steep variability. Finish & aftertaste is decent as well, nice malty note lingering at the tail end. Cha-qi is unnoticeable, and steep longevity is relatively decent, topping out at steep 8-9.

A yancha that just barely falls short for me. I got the 2021 harvest of this tea from my OWT order, and it’s good but not good enough. Leaves that were beautiful but quite heavily dusty, rich aroma especially in the wet leaf and vibrant liquor. The flavour is decent, good roastiness paired with mineral and fruity notes. Texture is decently smooth as well, with a relatively average character, with average steep variability. Finish & aftertaste is average to decent, nice mineral lingering note. Cha-qi is non-existent, and steep longevity is poor to average, lasting up to steep 8-10.

Very nice green! I got the 2022 harvest of this tea from my CS order, and it’s one of the better greens I’ve had. Beautiful beautiful leaves with a great buddy look, paired with an absolutely rich aroma both in the dry leaf, which displayed notes of nuttiness, and the wet leaf which displayed potent notes of vegetalness. Liquor is decently vibrant and thick, flavour is decent to pretty good with a nice delicate balance of floral vegetal and bittersweet. Texture is decent, nicely smooth and juicy but could do a bit of work in potency, character is average to decent with some steep variability but pretty unidimensional. Finish & aftertaste is pretty good, nice elderflower bitter-floral lingering aftertaste with a slight astringency to boot. Cha-qi is almost non-existent and steep longevity is decent, lasting up to steep 8 or potentially more.

Overall, a good green which would be a 80-85+ tea if it had a better cha qi and better character.

Average to decent white. I got the 2022 harvest of this tea from my Teavivre order, and it isn’t really that great of a tea tbh. Beautiful plump buds with a nicely nuanced but weak aroma. The liquor is thick and the flavour is delicate but not nuanced enough. The texture is smooth but otherwise average, character is pretty unidimenesional, finish & aftertaste is average to decent, nice lingering hay note at the tail end. Cha-qi is almost unnoticeable and the steep longevity is decent, topping out at steep 8 and may go further if pushed.

Very decent Puerh! I got this tea from my recent YS order, and it generally is quite good. Beautiful leaves with a decent proportion of buds, rich wet leaf aroma and a decently vibrant liquor. The flavour is quite decent, good semi-aged pu-erh flavour profile with a slight freshness still there, bitter, floral, etc. Texture is immense, juicy and astringent. Character is decent as well, with a good steep variability for the bitter lovers and a nice tail end to the session. Finish & aftertaste is potent, which is nice. Cha-qi is semi-potent, good buzzy feeling, and steep longevity is decent, topping off at steep 11.

Overall, good stuff.

Decent Oriental Beauty! I got the 2022 harvest of this tea from my recent order with CS. Beautiful leaves with a great proportion of buds, rich rich aroma in the dry and wet leaf that is complex and nuanced to the max. Liquor is a vibrant orangey red. Flavour is decent, lacking a bit of potency and nuance. Texture is juicy with a slight astringency, but really nice. Character is mediocre, the session was pretty unidimensional. Finish & aftertaste was decent, great lingering muscatel and spice note with a nice airy finish. Cha-qi is almost non-existent, and steep longevity is mediocre to decent, topping out at steep 8.

Disappointing for a supposedly “Competition Grade” tea. I got the Spring 2022 harvest of this tea from my recent YS order, and it’s decent but I expected much better. Beautiful leaves, the most vibrant green leaves of a TGY I’ve seen, rich wet leaf aroma, and beautiful liquour. Flavour was decent, reminds me a lot of vegetable soup with a punch of florality and minerality here and there. Texture was outstanding, verdant and smooth. Character was average though, with little steep variability and a unidimensional profile. Finish & aftertaste was average to decent, smooth and juicy with a lingering vegetal note to the tea. Cha-qi is almost non-existent and steep longevity is poor to average.

Overall, the tea isn’t up to par with its title really. I’d recommend it only by the basis of objectivity when it comes to the standard of the tea, but in relation to its price and its given prestige, sorry but this doesn’t cut it.

Too simple of a green. I got the 2022 harvest of this tea from my recent YS order, and it just doesn’t possess the quality. Beautiful 10/10 leaves though, with a decent but slightly weak aroma and a vibrant liquor. Flavour is underwhelmingly unidimensional and weak, texture is mediocre, character is mediocre. Finish & aftertaste is also, well, mediocre. Cha-qi is non-existent and steep longevity is poor, topping out at steep 4-5.

Flavors: Floral, Grass, Green, Hay, Herbal, Licorice, Nutty, Vegetal

I was curious about this tea when I saw it on YS. Sorry to hear it was a disappointment. Reminds me of my experience with Tai Ping Hou Kui. Gorgeous leaves but just tastes like hot water.

Yea, YS isn’t known for its greens.

Decent pu-erh! I got this tea from my Farmerleaf order and it’d be a great daily drinker. Beautiful leaves with a beautiful aroma and a beautiful liquor. Flavour was decent, nothing special but it holds its own weight. Character was mediocre but I wasn’t expecting much for the price either. Texture was juicy and unexpectedly good. Finish & aftertaste was decent and prominent, cha-qi was decent, good buzzy and heady feeling, and steep longevity was decent lasting up to steep 10+.
