drank Spices Chai by Jumbo

Full disclosure, I massively oversteeped this because I took it on a long car ride.
I’m surprised by how ginger heavy the tea is, it kind of overpowers other flavours…they’re definitely there in the smell though, clove and cinnamon that make this smell amazing, only to then taste like a ginger tea with only the vaguest hints of these spices. It makes me sad, because I want to like this tea. It smells so good, and the ingredients look like something I should adore… so maybe I should steep it less next time. All things considered, this was not a bad tasting tea, don’t get me wrong, it just did not have what I was expecting it to have.

hmmm….I love this blend. I really enjoy spices in tea and this has just that…cinnamony warmth over a base of fruit, maybe raisin? I am not sure about the bread part of these buns though, if I try really hard I can kind of imagine a slight buttery taste at the end of the sip, but I am not catching the wheat that is supposedly in it. All that is to say, lovely blend, i’m sad it’s a limited edition.

I’ve had this tea a few times now, I wonder why I have never added a tasting note. My flatmate and me made a pot over some games today so today’s the day I finally add a tasting note…except I have no idea what to say. It’s a fine tea but nothing about it stands out to me. The theming is fun? I like steampunk as a subculture a lot, but I cannot pinpoint how this blend relates. I suppose it reminds of an earl grey, except different. I can appreciate that, but to be honest this is my go to “I don’t want anything special today” tea.

Pickings from Dad’s teabox. I’m visiting everyone and judging their teas this christmas, it seems. I like floral teas, and this was definitely that, but it was otherwise rather mediocre. There is nothing special about it, and comes across as rather bland as a result.

I had Tea on my wishlist this Christmas, and my aunt went way overboard. This was one of the flavours I got. It brews bright orange which is a fun discovery. I forgot about the caramel and vastly oversweetened my first cup, presumably losing most of its subtlety. What I ended up with tasted like candy, a slightly spiced caramel.

I usually avoid this tea because of how I think it tastes weird, but when grandma makes you a cuppa…you drink it. Still think it tastes weird and I can’t put my finger on it. Here people claim this is “normal” tea and compare it to other “normal” tea which usually means Pickwick’s English Blend, but that one packs much more of a punch…

Aye, no. I don’t know what mum’s obsession with this tea is and why it’s most she drinks because… I actively dislike it. It tastes like rind. Don’t really have anything else to say about it.

drank Rooibos by Pickwick

From the slim pickings of my Grandmother’s tea box. This rooibos has a warm, woody flavour that goes well with the general taste of spice. I don’t know if it’s an added ingredient, as I did not get a look at the origional packaging, but I could swear there is cinnamon in here, too. It’s a decent, albeit not spectacular, tea indeed.

drank Decollethee by Het Theezaakje

Full disclosure, I bought this tea because the name is hilarious. Décolleté is the Dutch word for Cleavage, thee is the word for Tea.
I might have massively over steeped it as I did not have a seive(sif?) at my mother’s place and just had it floating in the cup… But… I don’t like it. Its very jasmine forward, in a bitter, and unpleasant way. I don’t catch the rose at all… Will try again when I’m back home.
