Tea of the Week for May 9, 2016!

When it comes to my tea flavors, there is usually some sort of inspiration behind it. Quite often, it was a flavor conceived during an afternoon of browsing through Pinterest. (I do like Pinterest!) I don’t really recall where I got the idea for a Raspberry Almond Cookie tea – but if I were to place a bet, my bet would be that I found it during a Pinterest browse.

I’ve never had a raspberry almond cookie. But when I think of “Raspberry Almond Cookie” – my mind evokes a thought of one of those little thumbprint type of cookies, you know, the cookies with a little indentation in the center where you could put a dollop of jam or marmalade? So, imagine that – if you would. A delicate almond shortbread that engulfs a little mound of raspberry jam.

And that’s exactly what this tastes like. I taste a good amount of raspberry and almond flavor and even a hint of buttery cookie. This is a naturally caffeine free treat – so it would make for a perfect dessert-y drink that you can enjoy before bedtime without worry that it’ll keep you up past your bedtime!

ingredients: organic honeybush, organic freeze-dried raspberries, salted sunflower seeds and organic natural flavors.

I love the idea of this one, but the implementation is rather medicinal to me. I think perhaps the almond is coming across as cherry to me, but mixing with the raspberry is giving it something I’m perceiving as a twang. I’m not getting any cookie impression here, though. It is definitely strongly flavored, which I do appreciate in general.

In an attempt to try and get a good night’s sleep for once I curtailed my evening consumption of caffeine and replaced it with rooibos and/or honeybush. I now have two cups of rooibos/honeybush on the go and another queued to be made. This is weird.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of rooibos or honeybush I bought a nice big packet of this a while back. I may be a sucker for 52Tea’s berry blends and also marzipan/amaretto-esque profiles. Stuff is good especially as it cools.

Mmm, I do like a marzipan/amaretto flavoured honey bush or rooibos! Once I’m through a few more in my stash, I might have to risk the exchange rate and order…

The marzipan is note is pretty faint because raspberries but they’re such a candied raspberry… Also, I was going to say I don’t think this is available anymore because it was a January blend, but apparently sample sizes are still around! Along with Maple Cheesecake Oolong. Huh.

You can always just grab some of mine too though! :)

I’m not too fussed about what flavours go with the almond tbh. I bet by the time I’m ready to order there will be something new. :)

3rd tea of Christmas

I don’t really taste the almond in this, but this is a very good raspberry cookie tea.

This one makes me super nostalgic of my early tea days. It reminds me of Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish, which was one of my first 52Teas ever.

I definitely get the cookie taste very well in this one. The raspberry adds some tartness without being too intense (ie. it’s not like hibiscus). I don’t get a ton of almond, but I’m still very happy with how this one is. I like the honeybush, as opposed to rooibos
