This First Flush is more like an ode to autumn. Picked off the AV2 clone bushes, the tea leaves are much darker in appearance with abundant silver tips that speak of dried black currant and toasted nuts. On brewing, the leaves open wide giving out an aroma that is a citrus surprise that extends to mango. The straw-coloured tea in your cup tastes of a bouquet of tropical flowers and leaves a woody note and a tree fruit aftertaste.
Relish this tea with a breakfast of crepes, pancakes or waffles to accompany its taste. Definitely a class apart in Darjeeling First Flush teas.
