Monkey Valley, Hou Gu, is a village in Fu Xi, in the core region Huang Shan. The village is isolated from the rest of the world and the fields are even more isolated. In the past this Huang Shan Mao Feng has been of favorite of most people, including myself. This year its even better.
2021 had much better weather than years before. More sunshine which means the tea dries easier. On cloudy days the air is humid and moisture can get trapped. The beautiful weather of 2021 had a great deal to do with how much cleaner this tea is. It is less smoky then last year with more complexities in flavor and mouthfeel. It is more subtle but still maintains the chestnut aroma. It is brighter and all around more enjoyable.
