Limoncello

This flavor is really fresh and zingy. It’s tart, but not too tart. Everything combines into a perfect, desserty lemon flavor. I really enjoy this one cold. I would totally order this again.

This reminds me a lot of Lemon Cake from Red Rose without the extra Stevia. Lemony and creamy.

Sipdown 54-2021
This isn’t a flavor I’d usually purchase, but it was given as a sample in a previous order. It’s a nice citrus profile- more like a lemon cream pie than limoncello.

I got this sample when I ordered the Carrot Cake back when I needed to restock my non-caffeinated supply.

Since I’m trying to find things I can sip down, I thought I’d open this up and see what it has going on. It’s not something I can sip down in one sitting but it’s a small packet. So 2 or 3 maybe.

It has a very creamy vanilla scent in the packet. Really nice. Reminds me of the SpecialTeas Rooibos Lemon Chiffon smell.

I followed the directions, sort of: 1.5 tsp in 12 oz water at boiling. But I was busy placing my Lupicia order (the last one!!!!) and forgot to take the filter out of the cup.

It makes a sort of vibrant orange, slightly cloudy liquor and smells like lemon cookies.

The flavor is a bit disappointing. I had hoped I’d get a sweet lemon cookie flavor, what with the brown sugar in the ingredients and all. But it really isn’t sweet.

Oddly, it isn’t really overly sour or bitter either. Though it is a little of both. It’s like there’s a bit too much lemon peel in the blend? Or something.

It might be better if I didn’t oversteep it. I’ll be sure to stick to no more than 7 minutes next time.

Wow – this tastes exactly like Lemon Chiffon from Della Terra.

I have to wonder if NecessiTeas may actually be sourcing this tea (or a pre flavoured rooibos base, at the very least) from the same supplier that Della Terra sourced theirs from; East Indies Tea Company. The flavour is just so dead on that it feels like a very real possibility to me. Plus I know from when we did the East Indies group order, years back, here on Steepster that both Lemon and Lime Chiffon were catalog blends carried by East Indies, meaning that any tea company could go and purchase them for their stores…

Thing is, I don’t think this has the exact same visual as lemon chiffon – which is why I think that NecessiTeas might but doing additional blending with a purchased “base” tea. That’s not a super uncommon practice; unique visuals sell tea better (especially when you’re selling online using a picture over in person where you can smell the teas) so sometimes tea companies will buy a catalog blend but add something to it to beef up the visuals and make it a little less obvious it’s a catalog blend.

9/10 times more large, chunky ingredients don’t actually contribute a significant enough flavour to drastically change the overall profile of a tea – so it’s an easy enough “trick” to do…

But this tastes amazing – don’t let my analysis let you think that I’m not enjoying every bit of this tea.

Apparently I was craving lemons yesterday when I decided on my teas for today seeing as this is the third tea today and it is the third with a lemon component (Frozen Raspberry doesn’t itself have lemon but I know it is made w/lemonade).

This is ok. Sweet. Sorta creamy. Mostly lemongrass. I have one more serving left and once I finish this off, I won’t be buying it again. It’s not bad by any means but I can get better interpretations of this flavor profile more easily accessible such as the Lemon Cream Rooibos from the Tea Haus in London or Lemon Meringue from Tealish in Toronto. If I want this, I’ll likely grab those instead. However, if this is more easily accessible to you, it is not a bad option.

this one was a little better today made it while playing games and making cookies. We did a slow cooker pot roast as well given the weather so it’s been a warm, comfy, cozy weekend. Also, the toys we bought doggo as a birthday present were a bit hit – helped keep her from going crazy being stuck inside a little more than we like. One’s a giraffe with tennis balls for feet and the other is a spiky turtle that squeaks. She’s in love with both of them…hasn’t stopped playing with them all weekend haha.

this tea is still too light in terms of flavour for me to be limoncello….but it’s a half decent lemongrass tea. haha thanks for the share VariaTEA!
