“Grr Steepster gobbled up my tasting note. So this was a sip down for this tea that I’ve had on three or four other occasions since I purchased it in a gift set that was 50% off at the Heavenly Tea...” Read full tasting note

Description

Part of the Tea Prosperity Gift Set. This collection revisits tea from the Ancient Tea Routes. Inspired by the roads less traveled, these six precious teas are but a sampling of the rare and exotic teas treasured and traded through history. Teas included are: Fragrant Peaks (Wuling Mt., Hunan Province, China), Emperor’s Clouds and Mist (Nanyun Shan Mt., Anhui Province, China), Song Zhen Needle (Fujian Province, China), Oriental Beauty (Taiwan), Majestic Nepalese Peaks (Nepal), and Emerald Dan Cong Oolong (China).

From the Phoenix Mountain range in Yunnan, this tea was originally given only as an Imperial Tribute, now these centuries-old tea trees have been carefully selected and bred in a single-trunked variety (the name Dan Cong means “one bush”) with each tree producing a unique type of fragrant leaf. Following a special process in which every tree is harvested & processed individually these leaves are fermented only on the edges giving the middle part of the leaf a natural green fresh taste Much like pu-erh tea Dan Cong becomes more complex and improves with age. Good for multiple infusions.
