“GONG FU I never really drink Japanese green teas, because I find steamed green teas to be too vegetal for me. But when I heard about roasted Japanese green tea, I knew I had to try it. And I loved...” Read full tasting note
Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that originated in Kyoto almost 100 years ago. The name Hojicha itself means “roasted tea”. Unlike traditional green teas, hojicha is baked after steaming the leaves. The baking process removes the bitterness and gives Hojichi its characteristic earthy scent, reddish-brown color and unique baked taste. The roasting process extracts almost all the caffeine from the tea and Hojicha is the perfect coffee alternative for those looking for a cozy and warm drink in the afternoon or evening.
