“For today’s review, I decided to review a rather interesting tea. This tea is a GABA processed oolong from Taiwan. The GABA processing for teas was discovered in Japan in the late 1980’s. You can...” Read full tasting note

Description

Research has linked drinking GABA oolong tea to several health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety, lowering cholesterol levels, increasing mental alertness and acuity, reducing Alzheimer’s plaque, fighting schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease, stabilizing blood pressure and producing better R.E.M. sleep. Further benefits include a good measure of anti-oxidants which are known to help prevent cancer-causing free radical damage. GABA oolong tea, due to its ability to suppress anxiety can also help reduce overeating due to stress, thereby making it a helpful supplement in the dieting process. The absorption of our GABA Tea is natural and easy as with any other tea – it is water based so our bodies assimilate it organically.

Drinking Mountain Tea’s GABA oolong tea can increase the natural levels of Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA) found in the human body. GABA is a naturally occuring amino acid that aids our body’s central nervous system, immune system, and endocrine system.

The processing of GABA oolong tea was developed in Japan in 1987. Researchers discovered that by “oxidizing” tea in a Nitrogen-rich environment, the tea would develop higher than usual concentrations of GABA, anti-oxidants, flavanoids, catechins and polyphenols.

Today GABA tea is a staple in Japan. The Japanese recommend GABA tea to their geriatric population as a natural approach to fighting the diseases that arise from aging. Many students also drink GABA tea before their exams to reduce anxiety and enhance their mental capabilities.
