“(2022 harvest) Malt, honey, cocoa, earth, minerals and clay. Subacid.” Read full tasting note
This Jin Jun Mei is a rare black tea from the high mountain village of Tongmu in Fujian, the birthplace of black tea. It is a mix of young golden and very dark leaves. The dry aroma is that of hops, cocoa, and spice. This medium-full bodied cup has a luscious velvety mouthfeel and offers and layered blend of sweetness, spice, and cocoa. This complex cup has a very nice dry finish.
About the leaves:
Grown at 100 meters above sea level these 5 cm long Wuyi buds were hand-plucked in May from 100-year-old trees. They are then fired once, by hand, for 15 minutes.
