Poomong, near the famous Tiger Hill, is one of the three gardens belonging to the prestigious Namring tea plantation, created by the British in 1855. Their tea trees, resistant to the cold and the high altitudes, are arranged between 1370 and 1525 metres and impart a remarkable character to the tea.
Taking advantage of an ingenious irrigation system designed to combat the effects of drought, this parcel of land oriented toward the south and caressed by the gentle winds has delivered us a world-premiere event – the very first Darjeeling Nouveau 2013 in January!
This exceptional harvest of Namring-Poomong Upper 2013 is selected and reserved exclusively for Mariage Frères.
Leaves: Jade green, elegant, delicately gathered by hand, rich in silver tips
Nose: Magnificent aromas of sandal wood and camphor tree, held up by sweet notes of cotton candy
Liquor: Silver yellow with a balanced, even texture – alpine and sparkling – the cup is marked by tonalities of fresh almond and fruity notes of white cherry and starfruit, gaily evolving toward the fruity, floral and sweet register of canteloupe.
As marvelous as the first light of dawn.
