2022 Winter Frost Green Tea from Coonoor, Nilgiri

The estate making this tea runs through a steep valley ranging from 5400 to 6900 feet.

We believe the tea makers in Nilgiris have completely aced their green tea technique, nowhere else in India, we get such exquisitely crafted greens!

The dry leaf has a floral aroma with a background of honey and wood. When placed on the heated ware, it has a coconut milk like aroma with a faint background of mint. The liquor has floral notes of jasmine and rose. There is a beautiful lavender note when the liquor cools down a little. It just keeps evolving into something more refreshing as you keep sipping it. The signature paan note from the Nilgiris, is found taking a more subtle approach in this tea which is more upfront with its floral profile. The coconut milk note makes an appearance later in the brew, with a marzipan like finish accompanying it. The aftertaste is long lasting and you get an interesting complexity with all the notes coming together one last time, until your next brew!

The estate making this tea runs through a steep valley ranging from 5400 to 6900 feet. After producing some exceptional green teas in the 2020 winter harvest, we are happy to introduce a new green tea to the Nilgiri lineup.

We believe the tea makers in Nilgiris have completely aced thier green tea technique, nowhere else in India, we get such exquisitely crafted greens. This winter harvest green is no different, the dry leaf has aroma of fresh fruity notes of mangoes and Indian guawa with a distinct white flower note. The liquor has notes of white flowers like lilies and jasmine, fruity notes of mango and guava along with a touch of vegetal note akin to Armenian cucumber. On the later steeps, you get even stronger white flower notes along with raw mango. On the greener side, the vegetal and leafy notes are resembling of iceberg lettuce and cucumber family.

Suits all kinds of brewing equally well, from gongfu to grandpa style tea and as always, the trusted western style teapot brewing. We hope you savour this tea as much as we do!
