Description

Ancient Chinese called Bi Luo Chun Xia sha ren xiang, “astonishingly fragrant tea”, because of its exquisite aroma. The name later changed to Bi Luo Chun “green conch spring” when the tea was selected as tribute to the emperor. “Astonishingly Fragrant” was not a name deemed poetic enough for the court. The Chinese have many words to describe the color green. Bi in this case means a dark jade green. Luo describes the twisted spiral shape of the leaf. Chun (meaning Spring) suggests a tea that’s full of youthful vitality. The character for Luo is sometimes refers to the beautiful lacy dress of an ancient Chinese beauty, with the aim of adding even more elegance to this ultra-elegant tea.

The 2012 edition features a rich brew with a satisfying viscosity, striking sweetness, and powerful fresh taste. The infused tea leaves turns light jade green, a trademark of the finest authentic Bi Luo Chun. In the cup, its skillfully hand-crafted, downy leaves unfold to produce a delicate, aromatic, light golden green liquor that opens with a fresh, soft bouquet of spring greens. Bi Luo Chun is noted for its well-rounded sweetness and a lingering, mellow, and slightly buttery finish. A unique, exceptional tea with much in it to discover and appreciate.
