“I’m actually a bit sad that I left the last of my sample of this from my Monstrositea March box to play around with, because it turns out I don’t like it spliced with mint as much as I like it on...” Read full tasting note
Fresh from the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal. Tulsi is otherwise known as Holy Basil, or it is a close relative of sweet basil.
This antioxidant rich tea originated in the north of India thousands of years ago. It features prominently in Ayurvedic medicine as it is an adaptogenic herb, used to strengthen the immune system, reduce stress and provide mental clarity. Its long history and revered status means it is likely one of the more widely researched plants on the planet.
Tulsi is refreshing and ever so slightly sweet in flavour; whilst it smells very herbaceous, this doesn’t tend to carry through into the liquor. Brew it at boiling temperature, start with 1/2 a teaspoon per cup and increase to taste the next time.
This tea pairs beautifully with peppermint.
