In China’s Yunnan Province, tea still grows as wild as the day it earned its host the accolade of the “home of tea”. Even when tamed, the bushes produce sturdy buds, thick, well sized leaves and attractive golden tips. The liquor is strong, malty, coppy and pleasantly distinctive.

Brewing Information

It’s 12:22am and I’m watching Street Trash on the Horror Channel. My dad showed this film to me around 13 years ago and I have loved it ever since. It’s just ridiculous in terms of gore and blood, think purple, blue and green with standard red. Like Play Doh horror lol.
Anyway this Yunnan is mostly dark brown but there are a few golden tips to liven it up. Scent is mild but sweet and malty.
Once steeped this tea is dark golden red/brown in colour and has a rich, sweet and malted aroma. Still on the subtle side really.
Very sweet and velvety smooth with dark fruited (like mature currants) and malty. It’s very sweet like dark treacle with a hint of smoke.
The overall blend is nice but shall never beat my beloved golden tip Yunnan. Still as an everyday tea it’s very tasty. Plus also suitable for re-steeping :)

This Yunnan smells of chocolate, tastes of malt, and has a hint of smoke in the background. Sweet but with plenty of character, it is one of the more interesting Yunnan teas that I have ever had, and one of the better black teas that I have. It’s character makes it perfect to drink in the autumn, while dreaming of bonfires. Although it’s marked as a lighter tea, there is some kick, mostly due to all the flavour it packs, and not so much due to any bitterness or astringency. A great tea for a crackling fire and some roasted chestnuts.
For all the F&M tea I have tried, this one is probably the only one smell most constant for dry leaf and tea liquid—- in a good way.
It’s a fragrant tea, not the floral or fruity smell, but a pleasantly mature, not over smokey scent. Although the liquid is quite dark in color, it’s surprisingly not over astrigent and actually quite tasty.
