I was tempted to get it sachet since Roswell raved about it, but since hibiscus is hit or miss for me, I got a pour over ice and was satisfied for the hot day. The flavors play very well together-going from the tart citrus of the grapefruit to the Turkish delight refreshment of the rose and hibiscus. I did not taste too much oolong personally, but its there in as a green background that’s smooth and hard to notice. I deeply enjoyed it as an ice drink without any additives and highly recommend it as a summer one. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it as much hot due to the hibiscus, but that’s a personal preference.

What on earth possessed me to even try this tea? A 20% discount and the hope that the hibiscus in the blend would, somehow, make it magical.
Well, it did. It’s light. It’s refreshing. The rose flavor is so subtle, especially when iced, that it’s not overly floral. The oolong flavor grounds it just a bit, but it really takes a back seat. The grapefruit and hibiscus play soooooo well together to my tastebuds. There’s a little extra hint of citrus from the orange peel and a slight sweetness from the pineapple and apple (without noticeable apple flavor, which I LOATHE in teas that aren’t apple teas). I love a tart tea, and this is a winner. #teamhibiscus FOREVAH!

G is for… Grapefruit Rose Starburst!
Of the multitude of grapefruit options, I picked this one. Good choice, it was quite delicious. Bright grapefruit but without the bitterness, and a great base that paired well with it. I’m sure the supporting players (candied pineapple, apple) also helped. It really did invoke thoughts of a grapefruit starburst, if one exists (do they?) but no sign of rose that I noticed, which is fine with me. Grapefruit’s not one of my top flavours, but this hit the spot today.

Made a big mug of this tea to sip on while indulging in a baked brie topped with red apple jelly and rose petals. It worked quite nicely; the rose was a good tie in, the apple jelly was delicious, the brie was super gooey and creamy and the acidity of the grapefruit in the tea kept the whole thing from being too rich to the point of over indulgence.
It was a different take on a tea and brie pairing than I’ve done in the past, but I loved it.
