Looking to nail the start of your day? You got it. We called up YouTuber, founder of Holo Taco and DAVIDsTEA super fan Cristine to get the scoop on what her go-to morning cup of loose leaf tea would be—and it’s a good thing we did. DAVIDsTEA x Simply Nailogical are so excited for you to say holo to our first collaborative blend… Simply Maple Breakfast! This bold black tea is dripping in a hundred layers of rich, breakfast-inspired goodness like real maple sugar and a hint of oats. Don’t forget a splash of milk!

What makes it great:

-Made with real maple sugar and nothing artificial.
-Pro tip from Simply Nailogical: “You’ve got to try this tea as a hot oat milk latte. It’s simply delicious!”

Secret’s out!

This tea was made in collaboration with Youtubers, founder of Holo Taco, and DT Superfan Cristine Rotenburg – aka SimplyNailogical. What a long project in the making! We first started it back in 2019, with most of the development taking place in early 2020 right before the pandemic/lockdown. As a fan of Simply/Cristine myself, this was not only SUCH A HARD multi-year secret to keep but also just so fun to have a hand in developing this tea with/for her.

She made the whole process very easy because she came in with a clear idea of what her dream tea would be, and the rest was just fitting all of the pieces together to make it happen. The resulting blend is pretty rich and robust with a breakfast-style black tea base, some cozy and warming oats (added both for flavour and because it’s a bit of a channel inside joke) and then of coarse lots of real maple as well. She is Canadian, after all. It’s a sweet but not too sweet blend that leads with that almost “pancake breakfast” sort of maple flavour, but with the body to back it. Cristine drinks hers with oat milk, and I concur that it’s delicious when made that way!

If you love Maple Syrup Oolong, then I think this is a must try. They’re very similar in terms of sweetness level, type of maple, and just overall intensity. For fan’s of DT’s newer maple blend Manoomin Maple, this one is a little bit sweeter/richer and has a slightly more fruity undertone to it from the apple inclusion.

Flavour descriptions aside… Long before I worked at DT in R&D I was very much a superfan myself, so I can very strongly relate to the complete and utter joy of having the experience of creating your own tea blend for the first time. It’s still sometimes a surreal feeling that I get paid to do that because, really, it kind of never stops feeling like magic. So it was just incredibly cool to get to have a part in doing that for someone else!!

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
