Chocolate Orange Cannoli

My next old holiday tea packet to work on! I love chocolate and orange as a flavor combination (I am known to just shove a gummy orange slice and a block of dark chocolate into my mouth at the same time and om nom nom) but I still haven’t found a chocolate orange tea that has really wowed me. Probably because the flavor of chocolate in teas tends to be more waxy/alcoholic to me, but I do tend to like the chocolate flavoring used by 52Teas, so maybe…?

Yes, the chocolate is very nice here. I still get a bit of that “chocolate liquer” note I commonly taste in chocolate teas, but it also has a fudgy/sweet quality to it, as well. The base has a nice warm baked bread quality to it which I think is aiding the chocolate a lot. I do taste the orange, but it isn’t quite as dominant as I’d prefer, taking a second seat to the chocolate. It has a nice pithy quality to it, though.

An enjoyable cup, but I think the search for my ideal chocolate orange tea is still on. (I do like this one much more than B&B’s Terry’s Tea, though).

I think I’ll try this as a latte next, as I think this flavor will really suit being thick and creamy.

This tea is a decent tea. It had chocolate and orange flavors and is nice enough but its not the chocolate orange tea for me. It just falls a bit flat. Perhaps that is because I had high expectations going in and it never quite lived up to the hype for me.

This time I made it as a latte and I think it is better but still not what I hoped for. The orange comes through nicely but I feel like I want more from the chocolate. It’s present but not overly so – its more cocoa like than milk chocolate and I think I expect these types of teas to be closer to the flavor of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

OK, so those of you who pay attention to my posts in the forum and/or my posts on facebook – you’re probably aware that I crafted the teas for Amoda Tea’s subscription box for December. This is one of those teas – and I’m finally adding it to our website (for a limited time – only while supplies last).

This is really yummy. It starts with a yunnan base (Golden Monkey & Yunnan Imperial – both are organic!) and to that I added oranges, cacao nibs & shells and some allspice for just a hint of warmth. I really love this blend. Super yummy!

This is a really lovely chocolate orange blend; the orange is aromatic and sweet and the chocolate notes so dark and rich. The both play beautifully with the tastes of malt, honey, grains, sweet potato, cacao, and soft fruitiness of the black tea base as well. However, I’m not necessarily getting anything that makes me think of cannolis specifically. That could be either the fried dough/shell or more of the sweet cheese/cream filling – I’d take either.

I see I rated this very highly in the past, so I’d be curious to go back and read those tasting notes. Maybe this is something that’s unique to the cup I steeped in particular, or just this reblend? Perhaps my tastes have changed slightly. Regardless I still liked the mug a lot and thought the flavours were exceptional. Just missing a slight ‘something something’ in terms of nailing the name perfectly.

I love a chocolate orange tea! This one definitely didn’t disappoint. Nic creamy vanilla/orange, with mild chocolate notes to balance out the citrus. Very well-balanced, and super tasty.

am. in. love. Seriously. In some ways i’m stupidly glad that it’s am amoda blend so that i can get more. Though i HATE amoda’s shopping charges – they’re ridiculous!
The rest will be off to variaTEA or I’ll drink what i have again until my order arrives lol

I remember this being better the first few times I had it, but it was still a decent chocolate orange tea for this cup. Possible that I didn’t brew it perfectly!
