Carrot Cake Pancakes

This tea is spicy and mapley, but I don’t get much carrot cake here. It’s a nice sweet tea, with a bit of a harsh base underneath. Glad I got to try, don’t need it in my cupboard.

The spice blend here was pretty typical for a 52teas spiced tea. This flavor combination sounded so exciting, but there really isn’t much of note here. It tasted much better at room temperature. I still don’t taste anything like carrot cake or pancakes, but the spices are delicious.

No fault of this tea, but I don’t love it. It’s the maple. I want to like maple flavored tea, and occasionally I find one that really works (it’s usually from 52Teas too), but this is just not doing it for me.

12 Teas of Christmas: Day 7

I really like this one! It smells amazing — first there’s a bit of maple, then some allspice, then, when you inhale reaaaalllly deeply, CARROT! Yum! Plus, the carrot bits are just adorable.

Brewed up, it’s a little heavy on the allspice for my taste; it’s overpowering the maple. I’m also finding the base really drying (which isn’t a bad thing, but just worth noting). Overall, though, it’s a really thoughtful blend and a delight to drink. Perfect for a chilly Wednesday.

Anyway, this is the 7th Tea of Christmas and it is so YUMMY!

I was really happy with how well the reblend turned out – so beautifully blended. It tastes just like the name suggests, carrot cake pancakes – with a drizzle of maple syrup.

So I’m on day two of a wicked tension headache and for the most part one of the only relieving things has been ICE COLD drinks. However, I just had this back of my head (pun not intended) feeling that I should make this hot. Y’know what, it worked. Not, like, in the sense that it got rid of my headache but it didn’t make it worse either! In the moment the almost borderline “raw” sweet, resinous notes of carrot with that subtle maple and allspice flavour was pretty soothing. I almost made a second cup, but then I moved on to something cold instead…

Autumn Harvest! Decided to go with some carrot for my autumn harvest flavor today, so I’m trying this one from 52Teas. Opening the packet, it smells very mapley sweet (aaaaaah!) and I’m getting lots of spices. Smells a lot like a more maple-forward version of a pumpkin spice chai, and I can totally get behind that.

The steeped tea smells great! There is a slightly savory, squashy quality to it, but mostly it smells like warm maple syrup and sweet spices. The base of this tea is very rounded, it is a bit naturally sweet and tastes like it has some honeyed and raisiny notes coming through from the blend… maybe even just a touch of stonefruit. The flavor does have a spiced carrot cake taste, there is a subtle note of carrot but a lot of sweet spice, leaving a lingering sweetness of allspice and nutmeg on the tongue. I’m also getting an overall maple sweetness throughout the tea, which is very nice and sets this apart from other carrot cake teas I’ve tried in the past (which also seem to always be rooibos… I think this is my first on a black base).

Really enjoying this with my breakfast this morning!

Had the last of this with my eggs Benedict birthday breakfast, though a slightly modified version with regular bacon instead of peameal bacon since that’s my preference and bagels instead of English muffins since that’s what we had. Breakfast was delicious and this tea was nice enough but with age has lost flavour and developed a slight metallic twang to it so it was time to say goodbye.

7th Tea of Christmas 2022

Apparently I’ve tried this blend before! Huh.

Despite not being the biggest fan in principle – Carrot Cake blends are a massive nostalgic trip for me. The flavour profile, which this tea nails, is one of the first dessert blends I tried years ago (in a 100g tin); it transports me right back to my years living in Victoria.

Various spices, buttery cake flavours, and a hint of maple-like syrup and frosting goodness make for a cozy and hearty blend – and one I was grateful for after shovelling the drive-ways and sidewalk. We got hit with about a foot of snow last night and it’s both magical and physically exhausting. We don’t normally get that much snow here at once, and my hands are still in spasms (hurrah for a good workout); thankful to hold a hot mug of tea to help sooth them!

Well, this was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this this morning. Maple, allspice, cinnamon, carrot, and a nice firm black base.

The carrot took me to sweet potato pie somehow and then I found myself wondering whether Anne has made a sweet potato burnt marshmallow black tea yet? Asking for a friend.
