“Countdown to Catching Up – Tea 9! I know I say this a LOT – but I absolutely LOVE how this tea turned out. It’s so very peachy! I think a better name for this would be gramma’s peach cobbler...” Read full tasting note

Description

A perfectly peach dessert tea that you’ll want to sip all year ’round! So tasty!

Countdown to Catching Up – Tea 9

Today, we’re talking Peaches! Peaches are one of my favorite end of summer/early fall fruits. There are few late summer delights more pleasurable than the joy of biting into a perfectly ripened peach while the juices literally run down your arm. YUM! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

My mouth is also watering over this tea! As I was looking for something interesting to do with peaches for this year’s “harvest” teas, I came across a recipe for Peach Kuchen & it captured my fancy. Now, I’ve never actually tried a Kuchen (at least, not that I recall) but AI informs me that a Kuchen is “a German word that translates to cake” that are “often made with eggs, flour & sugar & may also include fat” while the Farmer’s Almanac informs me that a traditional Kuchen “is like a mash-up of cake & pie, topped with a custard.”

While both sound absolutely delicious, I think that the recipe that I based this tea concept upon is more like the AI description rather than the Farmer’s Almanac, although I may have to revisit the idea of a peach kuchen someday and do the Farmer’s Almanac version, just for my own taste buds sake!

But as it is, this tea is AMAZING! The flavor of the peach is sweet & deliciously peachy – tasting so much like a fresh peach that I’ve actually managed to impress myself. The pastry/cake-y part of this tea is a little less pronounced, as are the warm spices. The peach is the star of this cuppa & I really wouldn’t want it any other way!

It’s organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural!

organic ingredients: green tea, peaches, cinnamon, ginger & natural flavors

to brew: shake the pouch. Use 3g of tea to 12oz of very hot water (175°F) & steep for 2 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. The flavor intensifies as it cools – so be sure to let it cool for that 5 minutes!

serving suggestion: as I mentioned above, the flavor of this tea intensifies as it cools, which suggests that maybe cold-brewing this tea is the way to go. And it just might be, but please don’t overlook the joy of hot tea here! Serving it warm conjures up all those lovely thoughts of warm peaches – either freshly baked in a Kuchen or perhaps a peach that’s been freshly picked from the tree that’s been warmed by the summer sun. YUM!

It doesn’t need sweetener, but if you’re looking for something a touch sweeter, a teensy drizzle of honey can’t hurt!
