Tea of the Week for December 25, 2023
I was inspired to create this because one of my customers suggested creating a holiday version of our Graveyard Mist (which is one of our best selling teas) – so I thought – ok, what are some flavors that would go with the soft, malty flavor of the spearmint of Graveyard Mist that would elevate the blend to a great holiday-inspired flavor?
I had a few ideas – but the one that really stuck out to me is Mandarin Orange which is a very traditional stocking stuffer. Santa used to put navel oranges in my family’s stockings (along with a crisp apple & a couple of handfuls of unshelled nuts like walnuts & almonds) rather than Mandarin Oranges, but that’s beside the point. Traditionally, Santa wraps Mandarins in a softly textured paper & puts those in the stockings of some people. Not me, but other people.
I liked the idea of having notes of bright, sweet Mandarins blended with our tried-and-true Graveyard Mist. So I went with it.
I love it! The sweet, juicy notes meld nicely with the cool notes of spearmint. The soft, fluffy marshmallow notes add a smoothness to the cup. Overall, it has a very winter-y spirit to it – this tastes like a holiday tea – but one that is different from your typical orange & clove blend. Different – yes, but different in the best way ever!
This one will only be around for a very limited time, so grab some while you can!
organic ingredients: green teas, spearmint leaves, marshmallow root, dried mandarin & natural flavors.
to brew: shake the pouch to ensure all ingredients are well-incorporated. Use 3g of leaf to 12oz of very hot water (175°F) & allow to steep for 2 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for about 5 minutes. Enjoy!
serving suggestion: this blend is fabulous served hot or iced. I think I prefer it iced (which kind of surprises me whenever I find a tea like that, because generally speaking, I tend to prefer hot teas.) It’s sweet – but not too sweet. It’s refreshing, especially when served iced. It makes a fantastic cold-brew.
