15544 Tasting Notes
I’m all out of my favorite chai teas so this is my back up. That being said, it’s still a good tea, just not my favourite. I’m almost out of this one as well, so that not only makes me sad, but happy because it means i’m working my way through all of the teas that I went crazy buying when i first got into steepster :)
Backlogging this as I’m not sure how i don’t have a rating on this one. From what i recall it was a bit underwhelming for me. It may just be that I’m not a fan of mate. I’ll try and have this a few more times on the weekend for a better review :)
I am also not a huge fan of mate, but my husband loves it. Maybe I could try this and find a happy medium. Thanks for the preliminary rating!
Adjusting this ratingdown a bit. I don’t get much in the way of sweet caramel, and I wish there was a bit more spice…which is a little dumb cause I don’t know many candy apples that have spice on them. Heh. Over all this is a nice tea, just a little weak in terms of intensity of flavours. :)
While I very much appreciated and enjoyed the samples I have received of DTT tea I also found the flavouring a bit weak. Doubling up can really help, at least with the few I tried.
Uniquity – yeah i find that a lot. I don’t mind doubling up, but I guess I also don’t want to have to keep adding extra tea to bring it up to the strength I like heh. I may be in the minority there though :)
I may have steeped this a bit too long, so keep that in mind. I’ll try again later and adjust the rating as needed. Long and the short of this? I love the tail end of this tea. The initial taste makes me scrunch up me face bu the after taste that it leaves behind is a really nice nutty, creamy taste.
Mmmmm a sample from Indigobloom this tea is really interesting. It’s berry and fruity and yeah… I’m really enjoying this one. There are some floral notes in here as well, but mostly there’s a fruity taste to this. This wouldn’t be a go to tea for me, but it’s a refreshing cup. I wish the taste of the tea matched up more with the scent…because the scent is truly unbelievable!
Figured I might as well use today as another opportunity to run through a few steepings of this sample that I recenved from Verdant when I placed my order. Rinsed the leaves, as per the instructions on the website and did a short steep for 30 secs. Theres a subtle scent of cocoa and the tea really is a beautiful gold colour. First sips…hmm wow it’s like cocoa-ey goodness and then there’s this jasmine note that almost comes barging through to say hello! and then that eases back into the very mellow smoothy creamy taste. This is a much more interesting tea to me than my morning run. We’ll see how the next few steeps go.
Second Steep: the colour of this steep is much deeper. there’s still a jasmine note in this. I’m also getting honesy notes, which is interesting.
Soooo working from home today because I woke up feeling really off my game. As a result, I get to spend a bit more time with my tea and figured I’d try this one since its been calling to me. I’m not really that experienced at this whole short steeping/gonfu sorta deelio, but I can wing anything!
First steep – really interesting orangey, gold, light brown color. Managed to spill water (hot) all over myself….going to be a good day! My silly unrefined palate tastes….woodsy? Th smell reminds me of something I can’t quiet place….
Second steep – now it smells like oolong…my arch nemesis it seems like anyway. Mmmmmm not bad…much less woodsy…oh figured out the smell from the first steep – rice cakes! Yeah……no idea on that one. This steep is much nicer than the first but now it tastes more like oolong…which seems to be a taste that I just haven’t fallen in love with yet. Oh well, more excuses to keep trying things, and I’d like to try a few more steeps of this.
Third steep – still a really nice tea. Don’t get me wrong, while I can’t seem to get behind oblongs ( so far) I don’t hate them. They’re not like rooibos for some ppl :) this steep. It be my favourite so far even though it’s kind of boring. Heh I don’t get the apricot notes that some ppl have but it’s a rich tea…so not explaining it well haha.
I like this review! It’s down to earth & humble, & honest. Not always known for my grace, especially at pouring hot water, I can relate. Hope you feel better as the day progresses!
Thanks Terri! Trying to go through a few steeps while I work… Blech all I want to do is curl up back in bed with a good book and more tea ;)
So apparently I was busy enough today that I didn’t get a chance to log this. Today’s fruity blend? MANGO cheesecake smoothie! Frozen banana, dash of cinnamon as inspired by devy, and a bunch of frozen mango chunks. Blend and enjoy delicious goodness! I’m lucky i had 3 mins to make this in the morning before leaving for work since i haven’t had a minute to eat. At least I started my day right :) I am 100% going to need to order more of this from Red Leaf soon. I love the creamy goodness it adds to both lattes and smoothies.
MMMMMMMMMMM afternoon tea! It’s been a day of chaos here at work so even though I haven’t manage to get time for lunch (yes i know that’s bad and yes, it IS after 4pm…) I found 5 mins to boil some water and toss this into a cup to sip on my next conference call.
I haven’t had this in a while so I’m really digging the caramel notes. I’d forgotten just how much i really enjoy this delicious tea from the Persimmon Tree Tea. I just wish I could justify the shipping to be able to order from them more often. Sadly this may have to wait to come off my shopping list until next year when I get down to the US again. :(
I highliy recommend giving them a shot though if you’re in the US as they have some wonderful teas!
