drank Lemon Meringue by The NecessiTeas

I definitely taste the lemon meringue! It’s not tart, just desserty like a lemon cake. I get the pillowy feeling of the meringue as well. This one is accurately named! I like it cold, and the cold resteep is nice as well. I’m a fan of all the lemongrass here!

I wouldn’t call this a chai. I taste the anise most strongly. I also taste clove. When it was hot, I tasted almost nothing at all. I thought a longer steep would do better, but the second time was the same.

Actually, I never really understood — what is supposed to be the primary flavor of chai? Cardamom? Cinnamon? Clove? C. sinensis? I understand that in some languages the word for tea IS just “chai”.

AJRimmer

For me, it’s a strong spice flavor, which this was unfortunately missing!

It totally depends on the tea, but in my experience Indian chai blends tend to be cardamom-forward.

I love the lemongrass flavor here. There’s a lot of soft fruitiness. It also tastes quite candylike. The 2 oz bag disappeared super quickly. I’d order this again! As usual, I removed the marshmallows.

Teabag saved from a TTB. I don’t taste coconut, but I taste something desserty that’s adjacent to macadamia. I liked this better with milk and sugar. The rooibos base is a good choice for this dessert tea!

drank Cape Paradise by Savoy Tea Co

This smelled like apple oatmeal while it steeped. I’m drinking it cold, and I’m happy to say it’s super good! The flavor is so juicy and fresh. It’s not tart, just smooth. I only bought the half ounce size, but I’ll have to get more next time. It’s my favorite tea I’ve tried from Savoy so far! The second time I had it, it was super appley, and I love the green rooibos base.

Making a note of this one!

This tastes like every other boring, lazy fruit tisane. When I ordered a bunch from Teavivre, they all tasted like this. It’s just nondescript, bordering on stale fruit sort of muddled together. It’s mostly tart red fruit. It’s not that it tastes bad, it’s just boring.

Arby

I know exactly the taste you mean. I did the same thing and then had a lot of Teavivre fruit tea to get through.

So disappointing! Fruit based herbal teas always look so beautiful, but I have unfortunately had to learn to be skeptical.

drank Prickly Pear by Old Barrel Tea Co

This base is a combination of green tea and green rooibos, which go together really smoothly. The flavor isn’t as special as I had hoped. It’s just a sort of fake red fruit sort of vibe. It’s not tart, but kind of candylike. It’s refreshing cold, but pretty one-note.

Cameron B.

It tastes like generic melon to me, ha ha.

TeaEarleGreyHot

So no resemblance to prickly pear cactus apples, which I find so delicious? :-(

Cameron B.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever had one, but usually I find prickly pear flavored things more tangy? And it is not that ha ha.

AJRimmer

Ha I brought prickly pears back from a hike near my house once, but the spines ended up intimidating me, so I didn’t cook with them. I’ve had a few prickly pear flavored things before, but I don’t remember the flavor being super distinct.

drank Raspberry Soiree by 52teas

I was intrigued when I noticed cantaloupe in the ingredients for this one. When I opened the bag, I was hit with the scent of fresh cantaloupe, which was very promising. The flavor leans more toward the cantaloupe as well, despite raspberry being in the name. I really don’t mind because raspberry teas have historically been some of my less favorite ones from 52teas, and I almost never see cantaloupe teas. I drank this cold with sugar and a splash of milk, and it’s so fresh tasting and lovely. I have some cantaloupe juice that I made in the fridge, and this might be even nicer than that. The resteep was incredible too. I vote for more cantaloupe teas! The second time I had this, I tasted more black tea and less fruitiness. It was still lovely, but I wasn’t as wild for it as the first time.

TTB sample! This was much better than I expected! I drank it cold with plenty of sweetener, and it was tart, but in a pleasant way. I tasted hibiscus and berry and something a tiny bit exotic. It was pretty pleasant!

drank Lavender Orange by Nelson's Tea
2568 tasting notes

I mostly taste lavender here. It’s super strong, but I’m a big lavender fan. There’s also a touch of something else that I suppose could be the orange. This flavor combination never spoke to me very strongly. Not bad, but I guess I prefer these flavors separately.

I’m an event planner who always has multiple mugs of tea beside me. Hobbies other than tea include board games, video games, cooking international dishes, science fiction, hiking, jigsaw puzzles, tap dancing, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing with my troublesome kitties.

Favorite flavors: dessert flavors, nutty, melon, mint, strawberry, anything rooibos-related.

Don’t prefer: Smoky, rosemary, savory flavors, floral (other than lavender), plain tea.

I always drink flavored tea, and preferably caffeine-free or black. I’ll try just about anything though! Let me know if you’re interested in a swap!

My ratings are kind of meaningless, but basically
90-100 pretty perfect
80-89 really good
70-79 good, but not the best
60-69 okay, but probably not for me
1-59 varying degrees of dislike
